PC Build Concerns

I was wondering if this pc build can run good and play most modern games on high-ultra settings at 1920-1080p 60fps and above. My number one concern is how long until this cant run modern games well anymore?

CPU- Intel Core i5-6600K
CPU Cooler- CRYORIG H7 49.0 CFM
Thermal Paste- Arctic Silver 5 High-Density Polysynthetic Silver 3.5g
Motherboard- Asus Z170-A ATX LGA1151
Memory- Avexir Core Series 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR4-2400
Internal Hard Drive- Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM
VIDEO CARD- MSI GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB
CASE- Fractal Design Core 2300 ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply- EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 750W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX
(DO I NEED THIS?)- Intel EXPI9301CTBLK PCI-Express x1 10/100/1000 Mbps Network Adapter
FAN- Corsair Air Series AF140 Quiet Edition 67.8 CFM 140mm Fan

This is my first build so im not very experienced in this area.

Few changes:

1. Change RAM to 16GB
2. Change GPU to a 1070 or 1080 instead of a old 980 Ti
3. Get a better PSU like a EVGA SuperNOVA G2 750W or RM750x
4. You don't need that network adapter. Your mobo comes with ethernet.

Ya i was planning on changing to a 16 gig and thanks for answering that adapter question. Do you reccomend a brand when it comes to buying a 1080/1070 when it comes down to price and quality?

Cheapest card that isn't a blower style. So like a Zotac AMP! Edition or something.

Msi, Gigabyte, Asus, Palit, Gainward, they are all pretty good.

The Cryorig will come with cryopaste. No need for the Arctic Silver.

Upgrade the RAM to more than 2133 to take advantage of the Z170 board and k series processor. 2400Mhz+ memory is practically the same price as 2133.

750W is overkill. A 500w would power that system no problems. The G2 or newer G3 just released are great power supplies at a good price.

MSI seems to be a favorite for NVidia video cards, so good choice.

Faster RAM won't see much performance boost at all. And Artic Silver is fine if he wants to use a better paste.

It's true faster RAM won't be a night and day difference, but it's been proven that it does make a good difference compared to RAM speeds with older generations of platforms. Toms did an article once to see if faster RAM actually mad a difference and concluded that it actually was quite more apparent compared to older generations.

Sure Arctic Silver is fine if you want to use it. But it's not necessary. I doubt it'll even make a 1 degree difference. All thermal paste nowadays is pretty darn good stuff compared to 20 years ago where there was crap, and there was Arctic Silver. CryoPaste is actually better than Arctic Silver performance wise. Arctic Silver seem to be milking their name over the years.

Where Arctic Silver shines is in their availability. If your a shop and need big tub of paste then you can easily get Arctic Silver in bulk or Arctic Ceramique. There is also Arctic epoxy available if you want to stick some heatspreaders. They have a complete range of products, are available in multiple sizes, and perform well. But they arn't the king they used to be.
