Pc build for school/gaming

Hey guys so i have a build in mind: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/7H9HMp here are some things to note:

Budget:2200
Items already have: monitor, mouse, optical drive
Chipset preferred: x99 or z170
usage: gaming, school (catia,solidworks,autocad)

Ok, buy the i7-4790K which is cheaper with same performance and cheaper, motherboard chipset z97 which is cheaper and better,wd caviar black which is cheaper and better, you can find keyoards for like 50$ which are better,2400mhz ram same FPS,a 650W is OK for the 980

With these suggestions you will save a lot of money from your build with same performance 😉

if i use a z97 chipset will it still be futureproof?

Yes, Z97 is very good and x99 is unneeded and the H61 with X99 has like 5fps difference juts more features. Z97 is the sweetspot for heavy gaming. Just make sure motherboard's and cpu's socket is the same 1150 is the most "futureproof"

Reasons is that you'll have a true 6-core for the likes of Autocad works and rendering tasks.

X99 has worthy benefits for workstation-like tasks.

The H61 is a 1155 socket.
You also need to look at what he is doing with the PC a X99 platform would be more suited for his school work.

If you decide to drop to the i7 4790k then upgrade the GPU to a 980ti. The price/performance ratio of the 980 it pretty bad and a regular 980 is kind of too much for 1080p but too less for anything higher than that. The 980ti seems to be the best pick right now if you want to be futureproof.

Also a 550-600w PSU will be totally enough for the build.

Otherwise very nice build. Top SSD and a sexy case. Also Corsairs K70 is a very nice keyboard. :)

Yeah but since you don't understand the difference between GAMING and RENDERING there is not much to discuss. It's not all about GRAPHICS.

A lot of people here, even when someone asks for a rendering build, they will post gaming builds. I see this all the time. People don't view it from a workstation perspective.

And the GTX 980 is not that much better than the R9 390X. Most of the time you get 5-8 fps more on the 980 but since you have better equipment you might be even closer in performance.
