Hello everyone,

I am looking for an upgrade from my old laptop to PC for mostly for video editing and gaming.

My major work will be
  1. Edit and Process 4K/8K videos, RAW photos on Adobe application (premier rush and photoshop),
  2. office work (mostly on Visual Studio, MS teams and mails, SQL and running 15 to 20 browser windows running most of the time)
  3. and gaming on the side (mostly far cry, AC DMC, COD)
Now as I did some research I found that the CPU does most of the work in video editing so here is some peripheral I listed out which I think should do the job.

CPU:
  1. AMD 3000 Series Ryzen 9 3900XT Desktop Processor 12 cores 24 Threads 70MB Cache 3.8GHz Upto 4.7GHz AM4 Socket 400 & 500 Series Chipset (100-100000277WOF)
Motherboard :
  1. GIGABYTE B550 AORUS PRO AC Motherboard with True 12+2 Phases Digital VRM, Intel 802.11ac Wireless, 2.5GbE LAN, RGB Fusion 2.0, Q-Flash Plus
RAM : 32 GB
  1. Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x16GB) DDR4 3200MHZ UDIMM C16 Desktop RAM Memory Module
Storage : SSD+SSHD
  1. WD Blue SN550 500GB NVMe Internal SSD - 2400MB/s R, 1750MB/s W, 5Y Warranty (WDBA3V5000ANC-WRSN)
  2. Seagate FireCuda 2 TB Solid State Hybrid Drive Performance SSHD – 3.5 Inch SATA 6 Gb/s Flash Accelerated 64 MB Cache for Gaming PC Laptop (ST2000DX002)
PSU
  1. Corsair CX650 650 Watt 80 Plus Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply (CP-9020122-NA)
Case
  1. Corsair Carbide Series CC-9011050-WW Mid-Tower Steel Gaming Case
GPU : Not sure which one (too many options 😋 ) something which can handle 4K gaming. I can always upgrade in later in a few months.

I can always go up in CPU considering this component I might be using for 5, 6 years.

if I consider a budget it's around 100K in Indian rupees. and I am not really into RGB it's the performance which matters not rainbows.

Thanks

Thanks I'll change my PSU , Any other alternative to 3080? it's available online but it will be out of budget(over by 30K.) and If I compromise with the games will the configuration be sufficient for video editing?

I personally have a 3080 and its just a fantastic GPU, its really one of the only GPU's that can hit the 4K mark for a reasonable price. The 3080 is also future proof so you wont have to upgrade your GPU for a long while. The 3070 is also a great card for 4K. But for just 10k indian ruppies more you have a 3080.

I also dont think that a 650w power supply is good enough. I would recommend a 750w power supply from Corsair

Yes but 3080 is like 99k in india (little less than my overall build budget alone). Any advise on the CPU , I used to love intel but now AMD is hitting really hard in terms of performances based on the research I've done.
Should I go for higher CPU and mid range GPU ( somewhere around 30, 40k INR)

The higher the resolution you choose to play the more you are going to spend on a video card hence the reason I game on 1080P. You have a couple of options. You can choose to game at a lower resolution such as 1440 with an RTX 3070 or you can cut cost and still have an excellent system.

Here's one way.

https://www.pcshop.in/product/amd-ryzen-7-3800x-3-9ghz-upto-4-5ghz/
AMD RYZEN 7 3800X 3.9GHz (Upto 4.5GHz) ₹31,400

AMD RYZEN 7 3700X 3.6GHz (Upto 4.4GHz) ₹28,400

And maybe a less expensive board.

As are both of those Antec psu's I linked, the upper tier Corsair psu's are manufactured by Seasonic.
