Hey I want to build a new PC so I can play destiny 2 in 4k at 60 fps and or above. My budget is 3k but the cheaper the better because well I get to spend less money lol.

I also need to get a new monitor that supports for 4k and is good with FPS games so keep that in mind. But I also play wow and league of legends and some story based games like the Witcher.

All builds are welcome! And I thank all who can help me get solid parts build list

I already have peripherals I just need a new build and a new monitor to support 4k. I am a fan of flashy fun cases and colors aslong as they aren't super distracting while gaming and can be controlled or dimmed down.

So it would be safe bet just to get a 1440p 144hz monitor and I can run that off of one 1080ti? And that would be good enough to hold a steady 60+ FPS? Well now the goal has changed a bit aslong as I can run at 60FPS with a 144hz monitor at at least 2k I would be perfectly happy.

60 FPS at 144 Hz will actually stutter.

And why do you want such high resolution?

How do you mean?
Have you tried 1440p 27" 144hz @okcnaline?
It's not a 'high' resolution, it's about 1.6x 1080p.
It works out for a slightly better pixel density on the bigger screen, and gives a far better and more immersive experience.
60FPS at 1440p 144Hz won't stutter, I can tell you that from experience.

Monitor doesn't get fed enough frames to refresh 144 times a second. I've seen enough people complain about 60 FPS gaming on 144 Hz monitors.

As long as you have V-Sync on, its fine.
You can always just change the max refresh rate in Windows settings back to 60 to make it smoother too.

Ryzen isn't good for gaming.

When you say stuff like this, and then continuously spam a thread with different versions of the same build you completely invalidate everything you say.

"Ryzen isn't good for gaming". Why is that? Because with a 1080ti at max detail at 1080p it gets 115fps vs 140fps? Because thats the difference in most AAA titles. At 1440p or 4k the difference is under 5 fps in most cases. All these fps number differences are nearly imperceptible. And thats on games that are not yet optimized for it. Patches are being released daily and new games are coming out.

So yeah sure "Ryzen isn't good for gaming."

I'll admit I haven't seen any updated numbers for the Ryzen 7 CPUs in the past month, do you have any stats on that?
I'd be happy to learn if it has improved.

Honestly bang for buck ??
Ryzen 1600, 1440p 75htz monitor, gtx 1080 or ti (either will hit 75fps constant)

Below 100htz there is no need for an overclocked i7 at all.

Vice versa , ryzen 1700 - ask people who own one if they actually make use of it to the tune of even 50% CPU usage & the answer will be no.

I'd want to go 4k with a 1080 Ti, 1440p 75Hz still seems a bit underwhelming.

The issue with me for 4k is you really really want a gsnc panel at that res.
I know the 1080ti will do the job now but 2 years down the line it may be a different story.
4k gsync -$700-800 .

I'd compromise now & live with it until prices come down which they eventually will.

The difference between the i7 and Ryzen cpus is minimal. You'd be stupid to say Ryzen is not good for gaming.

Got any more reliable numbers lying around?
Seems like at higher res that there is indeed very little difference now, that's great!
However I'm inclined to be a bit suspicious of the reliability of the source, any other major reviewers got updated numbers?

^ common sense , up the res & you load the GPU more .
Once you hit GPU limits (which you can do with a 1080ti at 60-70fps 4k & 90-110 1440p on a lot of titles) the CPU core performance makes no odds.

Ryzens comfy fps range is 80-110fps depending on title.(obviously stuff like ow will hit more than that)
I7 is 90-130fps.

Below that 110-120fps range though you'll see no difference between a ryzen 1600 & an i7.

Well if I am building a new computer I want o be able to run on something better. My build now can do 1080p just fine so I want to make at least 1 jump in resolution or Id just stay on my current build. Goal: 1440p or higher using a 144hz monitor without stutter.if you guys think 60 hz or 75 hz would be better please feel free to let me know why.My main game is going to be a FPS so I feel like FPS and the monitor is a crucial part of this build. And as stated my main game will be Destiny 2.

1440p 144hz would be better with a Ryzen 7 chip given my enlightenment to the performance situation. As mentioned, get that monitor as soon as you can, great sale.

Let's just put it this way: aside from heavily CPU-dependent simulation games like Ashes of the Singularity, there hasn't been ANY trouble for Ryzen to keep up at 10-20 FPS difference. And that was for older benchmarks.

For some reason probably load distribution at 1440p with GTX1080Ti in SLI i7-7700K performance kicks in and again the difference in fps when compared to Ryzen R7 is around 25fps which is huge to be neglected. That is the reason I went for i7-7700K instead of Ryzen R7.

Okay, well currently I have a 3930k processor its about 5 years old. Think it would be smarter to just roll that onto a new board? According to cpu benchmark the 3930k and the 7700k are pretty close: https://www.cpubenchmark.net/high_end_cpus.html.

That's measuring raw performance, IPC gains and architectural improvements go a long way.
