PC build, installing drivers

I just built my first Pc and the hardware is operating perfectly. I have installed windows onto the rig and have started installing the drivers, but every time my pc restarts an error message appears for install shield wizard 0x080070002. any help on how to resolve this issue would be very appreciated.

This maybe the cause??

Did you install the videocard drivers?? And change the resolution?

I installed the graphics card drivers but the screen resolution hasn't adjusted

Is ccleaner installed?? if it comes up on every reboot, there's probably something in startup causing it

Is there anything else after the error??

Just installed ccleaner, ran ccleaner and I still get the error code after restart.

You need to go to tools/startup to see whats there.

It wont remove whats in startup if you click on run ccleaner. That removes temp files etc not whats in startup

If the name of the program is in startup either disable it or delete it

The error message gives me the option to click "report" "detail" or "ok". If I click report in opens up a file in windows called system 32. If I click details it says "Error information: >setup.cpp (142)

What did you install after installing windows?

Chipset drivers? You dont have to install audio or lan. Win10's drivers usually work. Maybe update the SATA drivers

What programs (besides ccleaner have you installed). Go to tool/uninstall in ccleaner bottom right.

And copy and paste whats installed. Do the same for startup

You dont need this in startup. You can delete or disable it

Yes HKLM:Run UpdReg Creative Technology Ltd. C:\Windows\UpdReg.EXE

I would say it's one of these that are causing it. Disable them for now then reboot, Then see if that message comes up again.

If the message doesnt come up again. Select one of the entries below enable it again then reboot. Do the same thing for the 3 entries below.

Yes Startup Common Killer Network Manager.lnk Rivet Networks C:\Program Files\Killer Networking\Network Manager\NetworkManager.exe (the drivers for this have a habit of crashing windows).

So if it does crash, this would be the first thing, I would uninstall;

the error message still appeared after restart:

An error (-5001 : 0x080070002) has occurred while running the setup.
Please make sure you have finished any previous setup and closed other applications. If the error still occurs, please contact your vendor.

Is some install running in the background??

It sounds like it's still running or something installed and screwed up and it's stuck

ctrl-alt-del. Altho if you rebooted it shouldnt run. Weird

Run ccleaner go to tools/startup/scheduled tasks.

Click advanced mode. Anything here with installshield in it?

You can disable this

Disable it under options/monitoring. Untick enable active monitoring

Nothing had install shield in it, disabled ccleaner monitor restarted and the error appeared again

Hmm wonder if its a store apps error. It looks like the apps can give you this error as well

It maybe an update too . Check settings .

Whats it doing or saying. If it's trying to update is it failing on a driver??

Because it can fail when it tries to install a driver, if you've already installed one for whatever

And it cant or wont go any further until you fix it

Altho you didnt upgrade did you? It was a clean install

No probs hopefully that fixes it ! If its not the AU I would get the ISO with mediacreation tool and use that
