Hi there,

mc PC crashes randomly since a week - just turns off, no shutdown.

- no warnings, no errors
- BlueScreenView doesn't show anything (0 errors)
- no sound-warning

What I did after this issue occured:

- cleaned the GPU-Fan
- cleaned the CPU-Fan
- increased the GPU-Fan-Speed from 33% to 50% standard

Here are my speccs:

MSI-7350
IntelCore 2duo, E6750 @ 2.66GHz
4GB RAM
nVidia 560 GTX
Win7 Pro 64bit

I hope you can help me, since I'm really frustrated 🙁

Solution
Make sure your CPU fan is plugged into the CPU FAN pins. If its in the case fan it may not read correctly and cause the system to shutdown.
Add a case fan to increase cooling. The temp looks fine right now, but when you start using the machine it may heat up.

Other than that, it could be your PSU.
i would suspect you may need to remove the old thermal paste apply some new thermal past for your cpu. but before doing that go and download program called real temp, the program can find out in real time the temp of your CPU and GPU
hope that helps

Thank you fridricezilla.
I started the RealTemp 3.70.exe and it shows the following:

35 38-39 Temperature
65 62 Distance to TJ Max
Thermal Status: ok ok

Could my pc crash due to an outdated BIOS-Firmware?
I flashed my BIOS about 2 months ago, got some serious laggs (ingame) and reflashed to the version before...

the temps looks fine. i doubt its the bios since it would have shown up almost immediately.
try going into Event Viewer and see if you can match up a critical or error that corresponds with the time when the PC shuts itself down. click on the start menu and in the search bar type Event Viewer and click on the icon

I got a Hardware-Event with no description and no Event-ID, just nothing.
But it's at the right time (yesterday) when my system crashed...🙁

I go no Criticals, but 3 Errors today:

Kernel-Processor-Power (id 6) - but no shutdown at the moment...

no, I didn't get any spare supply here 🙁

I flashed my BIOS to the newest version now, but the CMOS Checksum is BAD, though I did the setup, F10 and restarted - still BAD 🙁
May my system just broken and ready for the trash?...

No need to be sorry - it's not your fault 😉
I will reflash the BIOS via my USB-Device...
Used AMIFLASH before, dunno if that's the problem...Will keep you up to date though 😉

Thanks cpuguru to jump in too 😉
I didn't change the CPU FAN pins at any time. I got this system like 3-4 years ago and it worked pretty well til now.

I reflashed the BIOS to v2.4 - since 2.7 didn't accept CMOS changes/savings...😵

What OS are you running?

Go into computer management and look at the event viewer for errors. It might give you some indication.

Have you swapped out the PSU yet? That would be my next step. I would not put money in this machine. It is an older machine. It may be time for a new machine. :)

Windows 7 Professional (64bit)

Already checked the Event viewer:
- just a hardware-issue with no description and no id
- Kernel-Processor-Power (id 6) around the time when it crashed yesterday and 2x today without a crash

I swapped out the RAM, cleaned everything, swapped it back in (yesterday) but it crashed again.

I'm doing a stress-test right now via "HeavyLoad":
- cpu around 52°C while CPU under 100% for about 10min now
- gpu temp around 60°C while testing via HeavyLoad...

Something unusual here?

33:06min under 100% and still around 51-52°C...
Hm, I did Memtest 2 days before without any error...
What is happening with my dear system 🙁

/edit:

Could an old audio-driver (realtek) cause the system to crash without a warning?

Thank you for your reply cpuguru.
I just installed the "latest" Realtek-driver - no issues so far.

I hope this is fixed now...if not, I would reply here again, if it's okay 😉 Thank you very much guys for your help!

Babam...2 days without a single crash and now - BAM, again -.-
It didn't create a dump file again (C:\Windows\Minidump is empty...)
Investigating the Event Viewer atm...

Event-ID: 6008
System was shut down unexpectedly

Shut down? It just insta-crashed like the times before 🙁

Could it be the PSU? But why now all of a sudden? ...it worked like months after I updated my GPU to the GTX560 ...why now?
This is like my system wants to troll and ruin me -.-

Hi there,

could a bios-flash/reset change some settings regarding the PSU-Power-Management?
This problem occured after I "flashed" my bios to the latest version and reflashed to the version before...

So, nobody can help me here? 🙁
I recently formatted my whole system - reinstalled Windows and all drivers etc.

It worked smooth like about 1 week in total, but then crashed again after it woke up from hibernation/sleep and playing a game for 1 hour...

Today I ran several scans like ESET and during that, the system crashed, I rebooted and it crashed while booting (1sec after pressing the tower button)...
Some help would be highly appreciated!
