My PC will consistently crash to desktop while gaming with no error message or anything of the sort. There is no history of the crash in the event viewer, but after scrolling through these threads today I learned of the reliability history which I have not checked yet and I plan on it when I get home from work today.
Fixes I’ve tried:
- Purchased a new PSU (which is the current one I’m using, my old PSU was a Corsair 750W)
- Purchased a set of G.skill Flare X5 32GB RAM with no success
-DDU-ed the drivers on 5 separate occasions
- I’ve done a clean install of Windows 11 three times
- Ran sfc/scannow and DISM
- BIOS is up to date and I’ve even rolled back to a few different ones just to see if that’d help. It did not do a thing.
- Taken it all apart and throughly cleaned it
- Re-pasted my CPU
- Reseated all my components as well as the wires
- Tested my GPU in a friends system and it ran flawlessly
- It crashes regardless if EXPO is on or off.
At this point I’m at my wits end, I’ve been dealing with this off and on since November 2023 with no permanent fixes and I really do not know what to do anymore and I’m sick of throwing money at this with no changes. My original build back in 2023 was a micro center bundle that came with the CPU, motherboard, and a set of 32GB G.Skill RAM, I don’t remember what the motherboard was off-hand as when I got home I noticed there was a bent pin on it so I immediately returned and they let me swap it for the Aorus B-650 I have now.
The most frustrating part of this whole thing is that sometimes I can only game for 30 minutes before it crashes and sometimes it will go weeks without crashing. After I bought the Corsair ram I’m rocking with now I thought I finally had it solved until I recently started crashing again but I was getting a memory related error in the event viewer, so I tested each stick individually and lo and behold and to my terrible luck one of the sticks was bad so I was just using one stick and had zero crashes the entire time. This past week I went and bought a set of G.Skill RAM so I could be back to dual channel and within 30 minutes I’m getting the same crashes and now it’s back to not giving me any errors in the event viewer. Tested each of the G.Skill sticks individually and each of them crashed, I chalked it up to just being extremely unlucky and chucked in the single Corsair stick I knew was reliable for me and now that’s crashing on me as well. I really, really, really do not know what to do anymore. The only possible thing I could even imagine it is at this point is the CPU but I’m just at a loss. Thanks for taking the time to read all this and I’m hopeful somebody can help me out.
