This is my first time posting anything in here but this forum was already very useful to me several times in the past, so thanks in advance guys.

So i was playing cs:go and suddenly not just the game crash but the whole pc, the screen just stays crashed ingame and i start hearing a really loud noise. I wait some seconds and then i decided to just force shut down the pc. When i turn the pc on again the monitor just doesn't get anything from the gpu. After some time looking for the problem i realise that the gpu just doesn't turn on, like the fans or anything. My GPU is a Radeon R9 270 and my MOBO is a Asus Crosshair III Formula. I've got no more ideas in what to do guys!!! I want to be sure if it is dead before going to buy a new one.

Hi Samf0rd,

Is your GPU overclcocked? Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling your drivers? I had a similar problem a few years back with my HD7950 and the problem as stupid as it sounds was my card wasn't seated properly. Put your specs in your signature. It makes it easier when you post.

No, it's not overclocked. I had reinstalled windows a few days before this happened and installed all the most recent drivers. I already tried to take the GPU off and set it again but nothing changed. The big problem is that my MOBO doesn't have a output for the monitor, so since the GPU doesn't work i can't really work anything in the PC unless i get another GPU.

My specs are:
Asus Crosshair III Formula
AMD Phenom X II 255(Not sure on this last number)
8GB DDR3 Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz
Radeon R9 270

Q1: It showed a in-game frame

Q2: It didn't show any message, just completely frozen screen on the in-game frame.

Q3: It was a weird noise, like one of those crazy annoying beeps that never end.

Q4: My MOBO doesn't have any ports to display the monitor, the GPU's port was my only way to connect the monitor.

Q5: I didn't really understand this question, sorry i'm a bit dumb. But basically i can't do anything on the computer right now because i don't have anything more ports(beside the ones in the GPU) to connect the monitor. I know that the problem is not on the monitor cause i tried it out on my father's laptop and it was fine. The GPU doesn't turn on, so the problem is on the GPU or in the "stuff" that connects to it(MOBO slots, power cable,...) but it all seems fine...

Thank you for the help, i don't want to buy a new one right away so i'm trying my best to find a solution.

Take your gpu out of the pci slot. If possible move it to another pci slot.

And if I'm not mistaken, this gpu should have a dual bios switch on it somewhere. Flip that switch from 1 to 2, if it's there.

Not sure why it would die like that but try the above first then we can go from there.

That switch only exists on the 270X i think, mine is the 270. It will be a bit hard to move the GPU to the other slot cause i have like a metal "box/department" close to that slot. I can try it but i will have to take that "thing" off so it doesn't block the GPU from been set due to his size.
