PC does not POST on first startup

Hi guys,

My system has recently picked up a strange issue, at the start of the day when I turn it on it never does post and doesn't do the single beep, it has no output to the monitor but the keyboard and mouse flash up. However if I just simply press the restart button it works absolutely fine. I know it's not a serious issue but it is a bit annoying, so if anyone has any tips I'd be grateful.

The specs are:

Phenom 940 @3.0
4GB XMS2 DDR2
250GB HD
Nvidia 8800GTS
ASRock K10N78
750W PSU

I bought this PC so I don't know the names of the HD and PSU.

I've had the same problem with an old P3 system. I can tell you for sure that it is either a problem with the CPU or motherboard or both because I have switched out the ram, PSU and HDD over the years.
