I bought a new ssd and installed windows 10 pro to it. I installed all the newest drivers for my graphics card and motherboard, but the pc doesn't detect the ethernet cable. My pc was connected to the wifi via ethernet cable before I reset the computer. Now my pc wont detect that the ethernet cable is plugged in. This cable works because I tested it by plugging it into my laptop and also it worked today before I reset my pc. What could be the problem?

System specs:
Cpu: i7-6700
Gpu: gtx 970
MoBo: MSI Z170a sli plus
Ram: 8gb ddr4 patriot
Ssd: Seagate 500gb

The Unknown device is likely your Ethernet. Double click on the Unknown device and choose driver-> update drive-> search automatically for updated driver..
I did that and it says that it found the driver software for my device, but there was an error while trying to install it.

Also says " This operation returned because the timeout period expired."

and the driver was for the ethernet connection.

thank you to everyone who was helping me out. Uninstalling the current drivers followed by a reboot worked and I am now connected to the internet via ethernet cable. I really appreaciate all of you and this site!! thanks again
