PC doesn't work but I don't know why

Hello guys,

A couple of weeks ago my PC crashed and I haven't been able to properly turn it back on again ever since.

So one night my pc has around 18 updates, and gets stuck on the 12th update for around 45 minutes, so I decide to cut off the power, since my pc makes quite some noise and I wanted to sleep. The next day I turn it on again, but only a black screen apears and nothing happens. The weird thing is, all the fans in the case start spinning, and even some white text pops up on my screen (think something about Nvidia, my GPU) but then a quick '0033' shows up in the right bottom of my screen pops up and then the screen goes black (the screen usually goes to standby when there is no input, but now it doesn't, so there is something still giving it an input).

So I called a friend to come over and check it out, since he knows about computers. He comes over, and decides to check out if VGA connection still works, since I've been using DVI connection, which plugs into my external GPU, and a VGA cable plugs into my Built in GPU on my motherboard. Now, my pc pc does start up, and I can get into the Bios and even reach the desktop, no problem. So we assume that is is my videocard which is causing this problem, it is broken.

So today I decided to pick up a new videocard, even a better one than my old one, and I go to another friends house to get it all set-up, since I'm to afraid to start pulling on my GPU in case something goes wrong. He removes the old one, and plugs in the brand new one. And then, once again, a black screen at start up. He thinks it's just a problem in bios, so he plugs in the VGA (which connects to the internal motherboards GPU which is, for some reason, still properly working) and goes into bios and makes sure all settings are right.
He then plugs in the DVI cable again (which connects to my brand new gpu), but still, black screen.

He then checks if my ram is broken by using new ram, but that is not what is wrong. Then he plugs in the videocard into his own PC, and it starts up, so it is not the GPU which is faulty.

I just don't know what to do anymore, since basically everyone I know who knows something about PC's doesn't know what to do. My friend told me something might be wrong with my powersupply, or with my PCI connector, or even my entire motherboard, but he doesn't know for sure, he has never seen something this odd.

I hope that someone might be able to help me here, since I don't know what to do anymore.

My PC specs:
AMD Zambezi FX-4100 QuadCore
MSI 760GA-P43FX
8GB DDR3 Corsair Ram
Nvidia GTX650Ti 1GB (Broken GPU)
Gigabyte GTX 960 4GB (New GPU)
600 Watt Cooler Master powersupply

Thank you very much!

if u cut the power while it was updating u probably borked your windows installation. or even the bios. first thing i would do is reset the bios by taking out the coin cell battery (wait 15 sec before re-inserting) hopefully after that u can at least get into the bios. then i would assume you will need to re-install windows. good luck bro

srry bro i didnt read all ur post to see that u can get into the bios. its unlikely that u damaged hardware by unplugging mid-update. if u can get to desktop with integrated graphics, un-install ur graphics drivers and re-install new one. hardware is usually damaged by surges not loss of power.

No, I only tried the Powersupply I already have installed, and only tried the power cables attached to it. The fans on the GPU started spinning though, so I don't know if it's a powersupply problem

Yeah my friend deleted my drivers, but still nothing happened. I'm starting to get really confused now.

Doesn't sound like a hardware fault and, seen as you turned off mid-update, i'd say it is not. I would recommend you get the Windows OS Disk you used to install the Operating system(if you have it) and run the "Repair" tool to fix what you may have broken. You should always allow updates to finish completley as you never know what bits of code they're adding, removing or changing and just a couple of lines could mess a lot up. Hope this helps.

Alright, but then I still don't understand why the GPU on my motherboard works fine, but my external GPU doesn't work.
So I put in the windows CD and then use bios to boot up from disk instead of hard-drive? The problem is that while using my external GPU I can't even get into the bios. Do I have to use the GPU on the motherboard to do this?

As i said, you dont know what the updates were Editing, this could be one of the odd things caused by stopping the update. Yes boot from CD in BIOS through whatever method you can, this will not affect the windows Repair as it only really takes place between the hard drive and disk drive. After its finished(may)take a while, try running you PC as normal.

I made a backup of all my files, inserted my windows CD into my PC and ran windows repair. It has been stuck on 'searching for installation updates' for the past hour or so now. I'm pretty sure that letting it run won't do anything, but I'm also afraid to turn off my PC.
