PC model : Dell XPS 8940 Desktop

GPU: RTX 4070
CPU: i7-11700
RAM: HyperX 2 x 16GB DDR4
SSD_1: Kingston SATA DDR4 120GB (OS installed on it)
SSD_2: Samsung M.2 NVMe 500GB
OS: Windows 10 Pro (updated)

So I've got a bug that is related to a specific driver that fails to load (see screenshots below ). The freezes are pretty random - once per day or twice or even 3 times . It can happen anytime - browsing the web , writing code , playing a video game - at that moment . Everything is frozen - no input from the mouse / keyboard does anything . My only solution is hard restart of pc by holding the power button . the freeze can happen even if I'm away and the pc's screen is turned off / asleep .

Even after a clean reset of my PC - after a few days the problem came back - i only have a few programs installed . maybe it's related to the hardware itself ?

The chatbot, as with most troubleshooters, will concentrate on software/OS approaches first. From your description of the problem--that a hard reset will temporary solve the problem--the probability is that it is hardware related. From the chatbot description of the failed driver load of the "Intel Camarillo" part, it's on the motherboard.

You can thus save time if you can ascertain SW or HW, by doing a clean Win install. It shouldn't be a big deal if you've done a clean reset already. If a clean install still surfaces the problem at some point, then HW is likely culprit.

The next step is to disassemble PC, clean it of dust, and carefully reassemble with minimal components needed only to boot Windows. Then gradually add in components one at a time.

The troubleshooting mantra is, when in doubt minimize configuration.

Good luck.

PS: Chatbot says your Dell XPS 8940 is qualified to upgrade to Win 11 Pro, so it could be an opportune moment to upgrade, given Win10 support will expire in 3 months. The Windows license key is embedded in PC's UEFI BIOS.
But I reinstalled windows on my clean reset with all drives ..after a few days the error came back ...so it has to be the hardware ..could the tips of the chatbot still help in that case ? I don't see how the problem is hardware incompatibility or lack of power

Please also disconnect all drives except the one you want the OS on for the clean install. This also takes faulty drives out of the equation. Disconnect the data and power cables from all drives before the Windows clean install!

Can you remind me how to do a clean windows install ? Is it through settings or only through usb drive with windows installer ?

These are the drivers that the dell driver scan from the website recommended to me to install (I guess I was not up to date after all ) :

is any of them related to my driver crashes ?

"The error "The driver \Driver\WudfRd failed to load for the device VEN_8086&DEV_4C03&SUBSYS_09C50128&REV_01\3&11583659&0&20" is related to the Windows User-Mode Driver Framework (UMDF), which is used by certain device drivers—often for USB, HID (Human Interface Device), or Intel chipset components—to run in user mode. The device ID suggests this is likely an Intel device, possibly a USB or Thunderbolt controller"

The chipset driver.

Run CMD as admin and paste in the following command: 'sfc /scannow'

The above command will fix windows corruption if it finds any. Let us know if it finds any corruption.
It found corruptions now . But so it did in the previous scans too ..guess they are not the source of the problem .
That's an example of a line that appeared previously as well :

for the intel device I would be trying to update the intel chipset drivers for the cpu.
the other vendor looked like a HP device.
(hp printer connected to a usb port?)

I would go into windows control panel-> device manager, find the option to show hidden devices and enable it.
then find all of the greyed out devices, click on them and remove their software. This will help if the problem is with a device that has been removed from a usb connection. (these devices are only hidden in this case and the driver is still running and can cause problems) Note, windows plug and play will install the driver at the time the device is connected, when the device is disconnected, device manger only hides the device from the list)

fix would be to update the intel chipset drivers (for usb )
then install the actual updated driver for the hp device before you actually connect it.

if you actually still have a hp device connected, you might go into windows device manager, right click on the device and look for a power management tab, click on it and tell windows to not let the device sleep to save power (common work around)

if you update the intel drivers, you may need to also update the motherboard bios also. The bios does some setup for the usb electronics and will enable some of the new sleep states.

Here are the suspicious devices I found - Could you guide me what to uninstall and what not ?

Also I already manually updated the drivers from the Dell website as it seems my pc was outdated as I mentioned above in the discussions - the intel chipset driver update i'm afraid didn't fix the issue

be sure to delete the greyed out entries.
particularly the one
unknown usb device (device descriptor request failed)

this would typically indicate a device was plugged in, windows plug and play tried to figure out what it was and could not figure it out
or the plug and play install is failing on a different cpu core.

if this is the case: start cmd.exe as an admin and run the command
net.exe stop "plug and play"

this should allow you to delete the greyed out entry and block the reinstall of the driver that is failing.
Note: it could be trying to install a hp printer that is on the network. Normally I would expect it to be a USB connected hp printer.
(assuming the device descriptor owner I looked up was HP but the actual device was not found when I tried to look it up)

note: if you make a kernel dump, then the debug command
!pnptriage
would help figure out what actual device is failing the install.

if you actually have a usb device connected. you might put it on a usb 2 port as these are more likely to work correctly without a updated bios. USB ports tend to be directly supported by the CPU.. (depending on the generation of the machine)
older usb 3 ports require a specific driver update from the motherboard vendor)

This can be indicative of bad windows update installs, RAM errors, or storage device errors. The command fixes the bad installs as best it can, RAM errors can be detected with a memtest, looking at the S.M.A.R.T. data for your drives, and in particular the OS drive, can tell you if the drives are failing.

net.exe gives me
"The syntax of this command is:

NET STOP
service"

looks like the intel device was (intel device code 4C03) =
bios enabled intel camarillo device

last bios update was may 13 2025

also looks like there is a bluetooth driver update but I do not see the date.
