Heyo Y'all!

For the past few days i have been experiencing frequent black screens where the GPU fans go to max speed (While gaming suddenly some green squares appear on the screen for a second or two before going black).
I can still hear content (except for whatever i was playing, that seems to crash?)and pause and start whatever YouTube / Netflix video i had running on second monitor if i tab to it use space bar so it does not freeze.
I have to force shutdown my PC with the power button to restart the PC so i am not being given any mini-dumps or blue screens that i can troubleshoot off of.

There was a error logged in Event viewer the other day "source: nvlddmkm - id: 14 - The description for Event ID 14 from source nvlddmkm cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer." which seems to have been resolved by cleaning my drivers with DDU and reinstalling them so i am not sure if there is a correlation between this and the black screens since this error has not been present every time a black screen has occurred?

The temperatures seem to be running fine all across my system.

I've tried to reseat my power connectors to the GPU and check for any visible damage to the pins, none was seen.
Tried to run the usual repair commands in powershell (DISM / SFC) errors was found and repaired but it still happens.

Could this be a case of a dying PSU / GPU? Or do people have some other troubleshooting ideas? Maybe even something i can take logs with since windows is not dumping anything?

System specs:
Windows 10 pro
GPU - 1080ti
CPU - i9-11900k
MOBO - ASUS Z590-E GAMING
PSU - HX 850i
RAM - Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO DDR4-3600 16gb X 2

I appreciate any help!

Driver or an OS corruption can and will cause the issue you've mentioned above.

How old is the PSU in your build? If you suspect the PSU being the issue, source a reliably built similar wattage unit, from a friend or neighbor, then power up the system. If the issue is gone after the borrowed PSU powers the platform, the issue is there.

Also monitor your graphics card and CPU temps just to make sure they are coping.

If the the weather has turned hotter this can have a knock on effect on how well your systems cooling works.

I think that the PSU must be 6 years old by now, got it around the release of 1080ti
Gonna see if i can source a similar PSU

But might have to try a re-install my OS by this point it has become a bit of a patchwork, i just cant be bothered because of how much <Mod Edit> i've got installed haha (Gonna exhaust all other options first)

I am monitoring the temps with HWMonitor and i have not seen the temps exceed what they are allowed to

Certainly can be the PSU your 100% correct there and sound like it could be the cause, if the PC has had heavy use for gaming or intensive tasks after 6 years then yeah I would be thinking of a replacement soon.

The error points to NVIDIA.
