Hello,

This is my first time posting on a topic like this so please tell me if more information is needed.

I have recently been having the suspicion that my desktop pc is under performing. This is because I have been experiencing frame drops and performance issues in various games that my friends with similar specs do not. Unfortunately, I am not very learned in the realm of computers and have no idea how to either prove my theory or do anything to fix it if I did. I don't fully expect this thread to lead to a resolution or anything, rather maybe I can learn something that will possibly help the situation, or at least benefit me when I upgrade in the future. Thanks in advance for any advice given. The only info I know to provide are my specs and my benchmark.

Specs:
Motherboard: Dell Alienware Aurora R9 Mboard T76PD
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-9700 CPU @ 3.00GHz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Super
RAM: DDR4 16GB
SSD: 1 TB
HDD 512 MB

Here are the results of my benchmark.

Again, I don't expect a hard resolution to this issue. I just hope that if there is a problem with my system, I can alleviate it a little. Or maybe I just end up learning something I can use in the future. Either way, I hope to hear back. Thanks.

One of the single biggest issues I have read and seen in regard to the Alienware case is overheating. They typically have some ducted cooler and poor ventilation.

The other thing I would check, and actually don't know if the mobo supports, would be an XMP profile on the RAM.

So in terms of overheating, the only thing I could really do for that is buy a new case/cooler, or is there a more immediate solution to implement. The room I'm in is large and open, so the atmosphere is never really warm.

Also, just for my information, could you explain what an XMP profile is?

Thanks.

Ailenware has some stange cases, but open the side panel on the case and point a desk fan at the PC. That will help you identify if you have overheating.

How about this? I will run the benchmark tomorrow with the case open and an external fan to see if the score changes significantly.
