Hello my pc keeps blue screening on start up
i recently did a dual boot with my previouse windows 8 and decided to do some fps test with win 7 so i dual booted (win 8 was original) it worked fine, i decided to stay with 7 cause my game fps doubled so i transfered the important files and formatted the partition win 8 was on

then windos partition manager would let me move the unallocated space to my 7 partition so i downloaded a program i think its called easypartitionmanager or easypartitionmaster i told it to put the space in and it restarted and did its thing before boot (or during) then when it went to load windows 7 it blue screened
a few times so i thought i would try doing a restore date but it blue screens so i thought i would start completely fresh with a complete reinstal of 7 and formatting both drives but it blue screens when i try to boot from cd too

my specs are
GPU nvidia 9800 gts
cpu amd phenom 8400 triple core
mobo asus m2n68-la narra 3
4gb ddr2 ram

thanks for any help.

the only thing i think i should do next is install ubuntu to see if that works. i find that ubuntu installed a lot easier and since you can run it from a usb it doesnt have to do anything with windows but i will try any suggestion i can.

well i went ahead and made a bootable linux usb (comes in handy to have one more than i thought it would) and it seems to be booting fine. i just hope i can get windows on there and not have any problems. i'm guessing i did something wrong when partitioning 🙁

try these things
1) Update bios(if possible)
http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/308518-30-update-bios
2) Clear Cmos (don’t forget to unplug the computer from the wall and let it sit for few minutes, if you don’t have a jumper than remove the battery make sure the computer is unplugged and let it for about10 minutes before putting the battery back in)

3) Check your psu

4) Make sure your computer is hooked up correctly

5) Run memtest(if possible)
http://www.memtest.org/
6) Run Burnintest (if possible)

7) If all else fails then try a gpu, Ram, or psu from another computer
Hope this helped! 😀

i think i narrowed it down. i used a third party partitioning program and did something wrong so it literally can not boot. i made a bootable usb for linux and im installing it now but i cant install windows from linux and my windows cd doesnt even work (corrupt file) so my friend is giving me one of his tomorrow hope it works. its not hardware (maybe hdd) but linux works so 😀 at least its not a completely dead pc if windows wont install with his cd. if it doesnt work i will try resetting my cmos? or whatever it is you reminded me that it can cause problems thanks
