[SOLVED] PC keeps booting then shutting down. Need Help!

I hadn't used my pc in maybe 3 months, then when I tried to start it up today the pc would turn on (fans and lights running) but within around 10 seconds it would shut down and restart. This process continues infinitely. My tv wont pick up a signal in time to see the bios or startup. I have tried removing the power button pins and using a screw driver to touch the pins but the problem continues. I am not the best with computers. What should I do?

Im having the exact same issue, however my pc will boot if my hdmi is in my motherboard, but will constantly reboot if hdmi is in gpu

I have just noticed that the back of the power supply is open. The coils and everything is visible. Is this normal? could dust have gotten into the power supply and is cutting power to the pc?

What do you mean open? As in there is no cover at all? You still have not answered what are your full system specs?

Thats not an open Power Supply. Thats how they all look. We need your system specs, could you provide them?

My specs are:
Gigabyte GA-Z97-D3H (Rev 1.1)
I think Intel I7 4690
MSI gtx 1080
not sure about power supply or CPU cooler.
(I did not build the pc)

Is there any way to check cpu type without taking the cpu cooler off?

does the pc work when you take the hdmi cable out of the pc and restart ??

No, it does not work even with the HDMI cable disconnected.

I'm having the same issue now but my pc works when I take my hdmi out of the graphics card and restart the system, I only get a boot loop when my hdmi Is in the graphics card

Everything has been working great for more than a year, so I don't think it is a compatibility problem. But I honestly have no idea

You need to find out about the PSU. It sounds like your PSU is dying. Find a spare quality PSU you can borrow from a friend to test your system on, or try and get another good quality PSU.

It does look like your PSU is dying which is why it cuts out.

I agree, I had a very similar problem which ended up being the powersupply. Replace it with a quality unit.
