Hi, my Windows 10 Pro PC started locking up some months ago (everything freezes and I have to hard-reboot it). I upgraded my CPU (Intel G4620 to Intel i7-7700) some time ago, I don't know if it is the reason, but it never happened with my old CPU. I also installed some programs after that, like ThrottleStop etc.

In the Windows Event Viewer I get messages like this:
Source: Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-Power
Level: Critical:
Event ID: 41
The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.

Although I doubt that it is connected to the power-supply having insufficient power, because I NEVER experienced lock ups during high-load, for example when playing games for hours and my GPU (GeForce GTX 1660) being at almost 100% and CPU at 75%. Instead, it usually happens when my PC is idle/under light load. Lock ups also happen very often when viewing youtube videos (in any browser). Very often I leave my PC idling for some minutes, come back and see it being locked up.

My Windows is up-to-date. Mainboard: Gigabyte b250-hd3p-cf

My PC also refused to go into sleep mode after being idle for some time, but I fixed it by disconnecting some USB devices. I don't know if these two issues are connected.

Any ideas how to fix or troubleshoot these lock ups?

Proper bios and mobo drivers?

Proper bios and mobo drivers?

Yes, I updated chipset drivers and all other drivers, flashed bios to the latest version, unplugged all USB devices and replaced them with different ones, but my PC is still locking up every 4-5 hours when idle or when watching youtube/twitch.

Is there anything else I can try?

Wag.

Power options
Turn off hard disk>0
Usb selective suspend>never

I set "Turn off hard disk after" to 0
"USB selective suspend setting" to "disabled"

I have a feeling it's locking up not as often anymore, but maybe it's just a coincidence. But it just locked up again while watching twitch.
Any other ideas?
