Pc not booting...

My son -in -law brought home a PC from his work,and asked me to take a peek..
Its a HP p6-2100
So i booted it up and it comes up
"A hard drive error occurred, press CTRL +ALT+ DEL to reboot"
Ran a hardware diagnostic and got a S.M.A.R.T test fail, with the error code 303.
Which means there's bad sectors on the HDD.

So my question is... If a new HDD is installed, can i use the Product key on the side of the pc to install windows 7 again ... long as its the same version that was on the pc?

No, they have an OEM edition on those machines. You won't be able to activate it without that specific edition, which are usually downloaded from the manufacturers website... but some of them charge for it though.
