Question PC not powering on after motherboard swap?

So i swapped the motherboard from my pc to another one I got and it works fine, I put back in the motherboard I had before and now the pc won't turn on? I have checked everything is plugged in and reseated ram, what else could be causing it? Have I blown the motherboard?

The motherboard I used had a differenct cpu in and I kept the cpu that i had in my motherboard the same, should I still reseat it?

I had a pc with an i3 3240 and it worked fine, i picked up a motherboard cpu combo and tested it in my pc to see if it worked so i swapped out the i3 mobo with the other one which was a different cpu (i3 stayed in mobo) and it turned on fine. I put back in the i3 and mobo and now it won't power on

What was the different i3? i bet a pin is bent or you need to reinstall the cpu. I would take the cpu out, make sure no socket pins are bent, and reinstall cpu.

I didnt swap the i3, the other motherboard was a 775 with a pentium in it. The motherboard originally in my pc with the i3, i kept all the parts together and took it out while i put in the 775 mobo.

Oh, ok i get it. You could have knocked something loose, or more likely stressed the motherboard too far. I would try double checking everything is snugly inserted.

I think I blew the motherboard, i checked it with another psu, wouldnt boot. I used same psu with the other mobo and fans were spinning.

Likely. Moving the motherboard around can damage it. How did you hold the motherboard? You could try a CPU reseat and a removing the CMOS battery temporarily, however i doubt that will do anything since the cpu was never removed

I held it with my hands on the side so by the pcie slots and across there but i'm pretty sure it's the motherboard

I would carry the motherboard by the cooler, but likely the motherboard is dead.

Good thing h61 boards are cheap, used like 20 pounds so couldve been worse.

Another thing to try is to make certain the Case power button cable is plugged into the proper motherboard header, as an experienced builder this is the most complex part of the build for me due to how small they are. You can try shorting those pins manually - tutorials are available online.

Can always bridge the correct pins with a screwdriver if you took it out of the case.
