Hi I have just brought a brand new Radeon R9 290X Tri-X graphics card I have a 750W Psu I installed the card and plugged in the 2 power leads to the gpu (8pin + 6pin power connectors) I did have the Nvidia GTX 650 ti ssc and that started crashing with purple squares all over the screen so I upgraded to the R9 290X but first I removed all Nvidia drivers for the 650ti and shutdown the pc then installed the R9 290X booted my pc and installed the correct Amd drivers for my card, I then went onto Valley benchmark to see the Improvements and the second valley loads in and starts using the gpu the pc powers off and when I say power off its like pulling the power lead out.... the other thing is when the pc powers off it wont turn back on I have to unplug it for around 10 seconds to get it to turn back on if i try before 10 seconds it still wont power on Its very odd any idea on what this may be? I have ordered another PSU 850W just to be safe but the thing is my 750W is like 6 months old brought brand new same with all parts in the computer there all under a year old and all brought brand new...
Everything used to work perfect until my 650ti went strange and now that I just spent almost £500 for a gpu that kills my pc I would love some help to figure this out.
PC SPECS:
Windows 8.1 (64bit)
8gb 1600 ram
1tb sata hd
500g sata hd
750w psu
Asus M5A97 LE R2.0 motherboard
Amd FX 6300 3.8mhz Cpu
GT 630 gpu (currently)
4 fans - 2 fans bringing fresh air in 2 pushing old air out
Good case ventilation
Cpu temps are great idle 12c while gaming (Rust - Low settings) 35c using arctic silver paste
I have also cleaned all dust out from the fans and all clumps of dust laying about.
All items that have been installed in the case where handled with care and an anti static band was applied to my wrist and case I take good care of my computer
I even went as far as changing the power lead and when that did not work I tried replacing the fuse in the plug (sometimes its just the simple things that mess you around)
Any help will be great Im stuck and have no idea what to do. I will just add I can run valley benchmark and play games with the card im currently using (GT 630) but my guess would be its a power issue for sure either the card has been sold to me damaged for almost £500 or my psu cant handle the card???
I also went here http://support.asus.com/PowerSupply.aspx?SLanguage=en and typed in my computer specs and it says my system should be good on a 750W psu and when I done this I listed the R9 290X and it came back to the 750W needed
