Question PC randomly restarts while gaming after swapping my motherboard, CPU and PSU

Newer BIOS versions from Asrock sometimes increase memory compatibility. You should seriously consider updating your BIOS to the latest version. Your BIOS is from 2020 and there have been more than a dozen BIOS updates since then.

yeah i know... but i dont wanna risk it yet, only as a last resort, i will test another stick of ram and another psu today to see if it still happens

just tested with another stick of ram, this time was corsair 2666mhz which is on qvl, still the same problem, tomorrow i will test a different psu

I think you're wasting your time Gaff. I now think the problem is your outdated BIOS. Your present BIOS doesn't even support resizable BAR!!! There are more recent BIOS that address Nvidia RTX 4xxx incompatibilities. Those are two excellent reasons to update your BIOS.

Another reason to update your BIOS is that the version 3.30 BIOS is designed to "Optimize system compatibility with Renoir and Ryzen™ 5000 Series processors" and you have a 5900x and are having definite system issues!

As long as you can boot to the BIOS, I don't think you'll have any problems Gaff, it doesn't take long to update a BIOS. I'd update to the most recent non-beta BIOS (5.60) because it'll have to most bug/compatibility fixes. Just make sure to follow the instructions to the letter.

so, apparently its fixed (again)

i don't have time to properly test it yet, but i played one game of fort nite and it didn't restart
i'll test on apex legends tomorrow
