Question PC shuts down and/or game crashes randomly ?

I (somewhat) recently built a new PC, only items I reused were the PSU and SSD. I got on the Starfield hype train because I got the game for free with my AMD purchases. Had about 16 hours in game and suddenly my PC rebooted, no BSOD, no nothing. Monitors and peripherals turned off, and the system just rebooted. I played the game for another couple of hours and it does it again, and again. Yesterday was a very hot and humid day, 90-degree Fahrenheit. So I thought maybe that could also be contributing to the issue.

This morning I booted the PC and started starfield, about 10 minutes later, the game crashes but just goes to the desktop. Tried Hogwarts legacy and now that is also doing the same thing. Just tried Cyberpunk and it reverted back to shutting down completely. I ordered a new PSU last night thinking it could be power related. What are everyone's thoughts?

Specs with temps:
Ryzen 7 7700x 70-80C
Corsair H100i Elite Capellix (240 AIO)
MSI Pro B650 P WiFi
32gb g.skill flare x5
powercolor Red Dragon 6800XT ~60C
2tb 970 Evo Plus
1TB Mx500
Corsair HX850i (don't know how good this PSU is anymore, bought it used a couple years ago.)
Corsair 4000D Airflow RGB (6 fans total)
Using 1 27" 1440P monitor, and 1 24" 1080p monitor
GMMK Pro keyboard
Razer Viper Ultimate
Razer RGB headphone stand
Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Edit: Replaced the power supply about an hour ago, and it still just crashed on me. I am ruling out PSU issues.

You should consider including all your periphs if you think it's a power issue cuz as I see it could be. Specs so far without storage or anything else included already exceeds 800 Watts of Req PSU but don't quote me on that, I always consider power first before anything else. Might be good to consider it as those games are RTX enhanced games and if your using Ray-Tracing may cause this outcome. Consider that as well. Play on certain quality levels and troubleshoot it cuz this happened to me too and all it took was a simple PSU swap and done lol . . . . Food for thought.

just updated my post with additional stuff in my build. I'm really hoping that the PSU is the only issue and this 1000W will handle everything. If not, I might have to take it to a repair store, I'm actively in college and don't have the time to do loads of troubleshooting.

also I went to look at event viewer with everything else closed, and it crashed yet again.

Of course and to the knowledge of this . . . yes . . . 912 Watts meaning that 1000 Watt should handle it pretty well not to mention the seatings will keep the power cooled well enough. Also consider cleaning the system out every so often say a month or 2....................enjoy the rest of your semester now lol

When you used the old SSD, did you do a full, fresh install of Windows? Crashing to the desktop, as opposed to full black screen with a reboot, is more often a software problem than a hardware one, and if you just built, an old OS install chucked into a new build is frequently the source of that problem.

Only after I eliminate software and temperature problems (you said it was hot, but not if your PC was getting hot), do I suspect the PSU. That was a really sweet PSU, but it's an old one and since you bought it used, I always kick a used PSU down a tier because of being unable to know just how it was treated or if it had been developing non-obvious problems.

No, I reinstalled windows, Formatted both of my drives. I actually did it again a few hours ago, starfield was running fine, until about 30 minutes ago when the PC powered itself down yet again. Reinstalling cyberpunk right now to play a bit on there to see what happens with that.

The interesting thing to me is that I am definitely not the only one experiencing this issue. Steam forums and reddit have quite a few postings about it. (The PC temps are what I have listed in the original post)

Hi There.

I had similar issues with games crashing to desktop while playing and it was due to CPU boosting its frequencies to high and causing all sorts of RAM problems. One of the forum users helped me solve my problems and you could also try this solution because it doesnt take much time setting things up.

You can find solution here: https://forums.tomshardware.com/thr...every-game-i-play-crashes-to-desktop.3818888/

Or here: https://forums.tomshardware.com/thr...-on-my-new-build.3817989/page-2#post-23087217

Might be worth a shot.

New PSU will be here today, if that doesn't fix the issues (I have my doubts), I will try this out. I'll update the post tonight at some point after I install the new psu.
