I have the following specs:
Intel i5 4670k (Not overclocked with Hyper 212x as cooler)
MSI Z87-G43 with 2x4 = 8GB RAM 1600MHz Kingston Hyper X
MSI R9 270 2GB (not 270x)
Windows 10
Corsair VS 650w PSU
The following are the readings which I took from HWInfo while running Doom 2016
CPU Package - 52 deg C (38 deg C under idle)
CPU Core 0 - 53 deg C
CPU Core 1 - 51 deg C
CPU Core 2 - 55 deg C
CPU Core 3 - 50 deg C
Graphics Card thermals - 67 deg C (Constant under load in game and 32 deg C idle)
+3V = 3.14 V
+5V = 5.046 V
+12V = hovers between 11.52 V and 11.88 V during gameplay
After running the game for sometimes within 2-3 mins and sometimes 30 mins the System just shuts off and then simply won't switch back on again until I switch off from the wall socket remove the cable and put the cable back in, switch on from wall socket and then hit power on my PC. All this I can do in mere 30 seconds and the PC works back again. There is no warning before the system turns off.
It might sound funny but the following games work absolutely fine:
1. Skyrim
2. AOE (all versions)
3. Older Tomb Raider
4. GTA San Andreas
5. Bioshock Infinite
The following along with Doom 2016 face similar issues:
1. Tomb Raider
2. Hitman Absolution
3. ESO
I have ordered a Seasonic 650w fully modular 80+ Gold PSU fearing that it is my PSU which is misbehaving, however would like to know if any of the other hardware is misbehaving or any of which I have mentioned have similar history of bad/itchy performance.
