Hi,

I’m having an issue where every time I use my PC, it will stay on and act as normal for about 2-3 mins and then will randomly switch off and restart within about 10 seconds, and every time it restarts, it will shut down again and so on.

This has only started happening today and i’ve had the parts for less than a year.

I’ve checked the temps when it shuts down in the bios and it all seems fine, CPU and RAM temps are within the 30-40 range before it shuts off.

I’ve done a scan in CMD to check for any corrupted files and that’s all fine, so it’s definitely a hardware issue.

My specs are:

Intel i7-13700KF
RTX 3080
4x8GB DDR4 RAM 3200mhz
Gigabyte 850W PSU
Corsair H100x CPU cooler
MSI Pro B760-P DDR4 Motherboard

Any ideas I would be very appreciative,

Thank you!

Out of concerns of Intel's processor degradation issue, what BIOS version are you on for your motherboard?

Gigabyte 850W PSU
Gigabyte is the brand of the PSU while 850W is the advertised wattage of the unit. What is the model of the PSU and it's age?

Abrupt PC restarts tends to happen for 2 reasons;
1| An overheating issue
and
2| A PSU that's incapable of delivering power to the entire system when taxed.

4x8GB DDR4 RAM 3200mhz
4 sticks of ram tends to add stress on the integrated memory controller. One solution to intel's processor degradation issue was to work with 1 or 2 sticks of ram, down from 4 to reduce stress on said controller.

RTX 3080
People on an RTX3080 were advised to have a 1KW PSU since the RTX 3000 had a high transient load spikes.

I can’t remember the BIOS version but I was made aware of that issue when i bought it all, and flashed the bios with the necessary version at the start.

I’ve had the PSU since November 2024 brand new, the model is: is the UD850GM

Definitely not an overheating issue as i’ve monitored the temps in the bios and they’re all within 30-40.

I wasn’t aware of the 2 sticks over 4 sticks or the 1000w psu. If i was to get new ram i’d want to get ddr5 which would mean upgrading my motherboard as well.
