Pc turns on, No signal to monitor

So I just bought an hp omen with a GTX 1060 graphics card. I also bought a Walmart brand name monitor that is 21.5 in.. I’ve tried changing the hdmi cable, putting the cable into the pc’s secondary slot, using a tv in place of the monitor, and finally I tried using the monitor for a ps4. None of these attempts got me a signal detected. Both the monitor and the pc are brand new out of the box. Any ideas?

The monitor may have a 'Source' or 'Input' selection button on it to switch between its various available connections.
See if you have those and if it works for you now.
