PC Upgrading Problems - Fix error 0x7B after installing new MoBo on existing Win installation. [SOLVED]

Hi! Today i got my new cpu (i7-4790k) and a new mobo (GA-H81M-HD3). I took down the old parts and putted the new one. I started the pc and load the default Bios settings but a problem:

1) Blue screen appear while trying to load Windows, the logo show up, the blue screen error and then the PC reboot itself.

here is the error

So i tried to load the OSX Yosemite's partition and it actually booted, but then when trying to work with Logic all the system hangs and freeze (other than that the system seems working).

Tried to fix the error with Win7 DVD and surprise the HDD doesn't appear at all at the installation menu. So i opened the Bios and checked, but the HDD is listed. Tried to change from AHCI to IDE but it doesn't help.

Tried to load the default settings from Bios, not worked. Tried to update the Bios but not worked either

can u plz list all of ur specs?
and that insane temp is cause of non supported chipset so plz update ur bios before stating to install OS.
if u dont then u might damage ur processor.
check that gigabyte have bios for ur motherboard that support 4790k.
u should have chose z97 or h97.......
overtemp is caused by vcore which is not proper for ur cpu

Yes my bad, i fixed the CPU temperature. The fan wasn't correctly allocated, after checking for the thermal paste i fixed it.

Already update the bios as first solution, but the error is still there that's my spec:

(I'm trying to load the old system with the new components*)

i7-4970k* (before i3 550)
GA-H81M-HD3* (beforeMSI 2a9c )
1x8 GB ram* (before 3x2 gb)
ATI RAdeon HD 5450
Hitachi 1 TB HDD

plz check ur hdd by using S.M.A.R.T
if there is read sector errors or other fatal errors then its best that u buy new hard drive.
it can be possible that ur hdd is cause for this problem and beside win7 always give some kind of problem while installation on 4790k systems.
i have faced a problem while installation of win7 but ur problem is related to hardware.
btw....plz keep AHCI do not change it to IDE because it will not work.
which SMPS U R USING FOR THIS build right now?

HDD is fine worked as expected before changing MoBO + CPU. i Think the problem is the new mobo wich messed up Windows boot. OSX works.

What is it SMPS? Ok stick to AHCI while before i was able to use IDE or AHCi or RAID without problems. I notice from the Bios that Raid option is not there anymore, could be these the cause??

How actually install mobo drivers chipset??

SMPS means power supply aka PSU.
YOU CAN INSTALL CHIPSET DRIVER after OS installation.
i have checked ur motherboard compatibility with 4790k and its compatible.
so plz try another HDD just in case.
and while installation plz make sure that only one hdd is connected in which u r trying to install OS.
also try bootable pen drive.

Thanks for the quick replay, I'm actually trying to get driver and chipset directly from Motherboard's DVD using Win7 DVD and command Line.

I have already tried Both AHCI or IDE but i didn't work. I use my computer to make music i don't play games maybe sometime Bad Company 2 online and that's it. Will require me too much time and work to get everything reinstalled again both in Windows and OSX.

Here the solution for anyone here or on the net looking for a solution. Basicly you can retrive your driver from motherboard DVD or an USB

This error came on when you install new MotherBoard while using previous Windows installation. Windows can't find some driver to boot so it get stuck, install new drivers and you'll be fine.

*****Go to the broken Windows 7 machine. Either load the system repair option or boot off your Windows 7 install disc. Once it boots, select your language and other things and hit next:

At the bottom of the window is an option that says “repair”, click this:


It will scan your drives, hopefully showing your Windows drive. If so, let it try to repair automatically at least once. Come back to this point if that fails. You can click “no” here, and it will drop back to the window that shows your Windows hard drive. Make sure the top radio button is selected and click next. It should bring up a list of links that you can click, the bottom one is “recovery console”, click that:

Eject the Windows disc and put in the CD you burned if you burned one. You need to figure out which drive your CD / thumb drive / external drive is - so try different drive letters and type dir until you see the one that has your folder. If you burned a CD, chances are it’s the D: drive (unless it was an HP or something, then it will be E if it’s a thumb drive or external hard drive and you only have 1 CD-ROM, it’s the E: drive. Maybe F: – check it out. We might add a guide on how to do this at a future date.

Once you have that figured out you need to type this

dism /image:c:\ /add-driver /Driver:X:\ /recurse
Replace “X” with the drive letter from the previous step:


Hit enter and it should find the drivers you extracted into the folder in the second step.

After it does that, type “exit” and hit enter, then press the “Restart” button.

When Windows boots it will take a LONG time to get all the updated drivers - but hey, it booted, right?******

Ok thanks this guide i was able to get my driver from the mobo DVD. Keep attention to the HDD correct Label letter: I thought i was using "C" while the real label for the HDD was "E" and "F" for the DVD.

If you have still problem the easy solution is to do a fresh install for Windows and problems should be fixed.

OSX however stopped working correctly since changing MoBo and CPU, tried to install again but it won't install. Good luck to everyboad with this problem.

EDIT:Got Everything working both Windows and OSX. For Hackintosh use Niresh releases with boot -x -v and always use -f to load it correctly for everyone who is using the same Mobo.
