Question PC Upgrading

Hello there. Not so long ago I got the desire to upgrade my gaming PC and until today I wanted to simply sell my old computer and build a brand-new machine with RTX 4080 for this money, but my friend told me that for such a video card Ryzen 7 5700X processor will be quite enough. If possible, I could simply upgrade the CPU, cooling, video card and PSU and leave everything else where it is. Right now, I have an MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk. Will this processor and motherboard be enough for the RTX 4080?

Ryzen 5 5600 and RTX 3060. 16 GB of DDR4 RAM.

I live in Europe and at the start of sales of new generation video cards they will have exorbitant prices, which I simply can not afford, so I will definitely not be able to buy a 5000-series video card in the near future.

Same? But the 4080 is exorbitant too and the new cards will push older models down especially on the used market

As for the CPU there’s no point upgrading unless it’s to a 5700/800X3D chip from a value perspective.

That will work fine together. Otherwise look at a 5700x3D.

So there won't be any problems in the future? I wouldn't say I try to play all new games, but I do occasionally play Red Dead Redemption II and Resident Evil and games like that.

Well yeah, I realize that after that the 4000 series of graphics cards will get cheaper, and then I might even be able to put together a brand-new PC. But if I can upgrade just the graphics card and not spend on anything else but the CPU and PSU and play as soon as next week, then it's not a bad decision, although not expedient.

Is there any particular reason the 3060 isn't enough for another couple of months?

I don't know anything about those particular games tbh. Best thing to do imo is look up some benchmarks.

id upgrade the ram to 16x2gb kit 3200 cl16 will help alot. ( must be a kit).

dunno if your using 2 sticks of 8 or 1 stick of 16 but that will cripple your performance if its 1.

and 16gb can cause hitching.

as someone who is on am4.

there are 3 options cpu wise that make sense.

ryzen 7 5700x ( can be ok on stock heatsink but best with a 5 heatpipe cooler)
ryzen 9 5900 ( needs decent cooling water cooled best)
ryzen 7 5700x3d ( needs a decent air cooler 6 heatpipes or higher).
