Before you tell me I know, I know, there has probably been SO many threads like this but I want to make one anyway cuz... Well... Why not? Anyway, please tell me PC or Console, which is better? A reason why is good too!

Console, because Forza and Gran Turismo is not on PC.
PC, because consoles have no SC2 and BF4 sucks with a joystick.

The other reasons are trivial IMHO and so is my HO.

The great debate. So many threads.

In my opinion, PC beats console as long as you have a decent machine. You'll get increased performance, graphics quality, customization, virtually unlimited input options, and you can still plug it in to your TV and surround sound. I would also say that cost is becoming a moot point since console prices keep creeping up in price and the technology is always a couple years behind, getting more and more outdated over time. You can't upgrade the GPU, CPU, or RAM in a console. You're stuck with it. If you upgrade to a new console, your older games likely won't work. With a PC you can upgrade your components and still play those old games.

For myself... PC

- I prefer keyboard and mouse.
- I do not like using a controller.
- A PC can do more than just play games, surf the net and play videos.
- I can custom build my PC.
- I can upgrade my PC at any time for better performance.
- Many, but not all PC games can be modded - better graphics, better performance, more content, etc. That cannot be done with console game until it was announced that Fallout 4 can be modded on the Xbone with plans to do so for PS4 later on.
- There are a good number of game which I play that are only available for the PC.
- Backwards compatibility with older games, but new Windows OS can and do break older games. But it is sometimes possible to get older games to run with community created patches / hacks.

I'm going to say it anyway, just look into those threads. The answers you receive on this thread will be no different.

Here is what I can come up with off the top of my head:

PC:

Pros:
- Customize and build it exactly how you want it
- Potential to have much higher processing power than a console meaning higher graphics and frame rates
- Play with a mouse and keyboard
- PC exclusive titles
- Game mods
- Large variety of free to play games
- Access to significantly cheaper games via sales by online distrubutors
- Having the functionality of a high end computer while having the capability to play games (largest advantage)
- Can be upgraded as time goes on
- Generally more mature online community (really varies from game to game)
- Can emulate certain consoles

Cons:
- Not plug and play
- Optimization issues

Consoles:

Pros:
- Easier to use interface
- Greater support of split screen games
- Game optimization is rarely an issue
- Console exclusive games and features

Cons:
- aimed for a specific audience at a set price point, as such it will be limited in performance and features
- expensive games
- monthly payments for online play

PC/Laptop is considered a basic needs today for most people, it does not matter if you game on it or not. (We are not talking about gaming PC).
Console is however only for leisure and can do a lot less than a PC.
Gaming PC/laptop is a combination of need and leisure in one device.
Here is where I think that people are mostly putting up a wrong fight between PC and console.
Each time we are talking about console only gaming, most of us are still in need of a PC/laptop for everything a console can not do.
Gaming PC from cost (not game prices) point of view thus in most cases can not be compared directly with a console alone but with a console plus a non-gaming PC/laptop.
In my case, I need a rig for 3D rendering, a powerful 3D rendering machine. Here, the cost (again not game prices) of having an extra console to play games on is than more expensive than if I simply use my rendering rig for gaming too. (I bought PS4 still tho' because of some games are meant for consoles, some are for PC and there are also those exclusive titles for both worlds).
Just keep in mind that games on PC tend to be cheaper. Gaming PC can also deliver better fps, better graphic, better resolution, etc. than console. You will need at least a decent gaming PC to surpass a console, of course.
From comfort point of view, even if the console is easier to maintain, most of us still have to maintain your PC/laptop.
For most cases, you will always need a PC, not a console. It is however fully your decision, if you want to play games on a gaming PC or on a console.
Just pick something most comfortable to you.

Pah! Commodore shill, the Spectrum (128k +2 with built in tape drive!) is waaaay better than that heap of junk 😛

At least you aren't one of those silly Amiga people, and don't even get me started on the 'NES' coolaid drinkers with they're lah-de-dah cartridges 😀

These debates have ranged on for years :) I also remember the 3DFX vs nVidia gpu debates back in the early 90's when I was still rocking a 486 (100mhz single core ftw!).
