Hey everyone,
Thanks for your help and time in advance.

I've been experiencing some "crashes" in certain games. This crashes looks weird though, both displays I use show nothing but the classic "no signal" popup, like if the PC would be off, but it still running. Sometimes I hear the sound of the videogame also.
I push the reset button but system doesn't initiate or maybe it does, but the screens are still black. If I press the power button and turn the PC off and on again, it works like a charm.

Weirdest thing is that only happens with certain games. I experienced this only with The Forest and Heroes & Generals. Both are not hardware demanding so..

My rig:
- ASUS Sabertooth Z87
- Intel i5 4670K
- Corsair H110
- x2 SLI EVGA GTX 970 SC @ 4GB
- G.Skill Sniper 2x8GB @ 1866MHz
- Samsung 840 EVO 500GB SSD
- Seagate Barracuda 3 TB HDD @ 64MB 7200 RPM
- Corsair CX750 @ ATX 80 PLUS Bronze
- NZXT Phantom 820 White Case

If I recall correctly, I also experienced this once playing GTA V while using the "automatic CPU OC", was running 4GHz I think, so I disabled everything till that.
I played lots of games in this rig, even worst games than those: Skyrim, Metro saga, Star Citizen, The Witcher 3, GTA V, ARK, COD Advanced Warfare, Ryse Son of Rome, etc..

This crash appears after playing a bit, not immediately. In "Heroes & Generals", after it happened once, I couldn't open the game again, don't know why.

Anyway, thanks for everything!

SLI disabled. I played for exactly 11 minutes and computer crashed. Same again: no signal both displays, I hear game sound (The Forest) for a couple of seconds, PC seems to reboot by itself but it doesn't (displays not getting signal, keyboard light turns off and on like if the system would be rebooting). I pressed the "reset" button but it doesn't work, I have to turn it off and on and it starts great.

Should I try again but play like 5 minutes or something?

Right after this occurs, restart PC and check event viewer. Look under windows logs > system and windows logs > application. If you see event id 41 (power kernel) - PC rebooted without cleanly shutting down... it's probably PSU related

I suffered the same problem, screens shutting off and displaying no signal message while the computer was still lit up as if it was still running. I fixed it by turning the overclock off my CPU but you say you've tried this.

Where do you actually have the computer base? Mine is in a cupboard on my desk which I assumed effected the airflow of the PC and made it over heat, causing it to shut off. My guess was turning the overclock off cooled the CPU down enough to not cause shut downs. So you could try moving the PC or cleaning out the fans if it is a temperature issue. Just a guess though.

So, in "Event Viewer" I checked "Windows Logs" and the section "System" and "Application": nothing there.
In System there's some error logs but nothing related.

Sorry for the silly question but should I take the screenshots of the sensors results AFTER playing the game? While playing? I "saved" a log but the file's ".csv".

Thanks.

I disabled CPU OC from BIOS last timed it crashed The Witcher 3 because I assumed it was that. There's no much space where I can locate the computer, the air flow is not the best in it's current spot, but I checked temperatures and they seemed normal, besides as I said it only happens in certain games I mean, why "Heroes and Generals" will crash and GTA V don't?

Thank you all!

While or after playing? Sorry dude 😛

Your CPU is running a bit hot for such a non-demanding game and h110 cooler - 55C. Is it a h110i? Can you increase fan and pump speeds?

Your PSU voltages are OK

Your primary GPU is running real hot too - 80C. Its running at 99% load too ! Maybe its a lot harder game than it first appears.
Your fans are only at 44%. Can you run a custom fan profile in Afterburner?

(the secondary is at 43C)

H110.

I'll try increasing fans and that stuff, I thought fans were automatically modified anyway.

Anyway, the game is not as demanding as GTA V I suppose, besides I assume there's people with similar rigs to mine and they are not suffering this issue with the same game.

What would you suggest? I mean, what's causing the problem?

The secondary one is disabled now since I deactivated SLI to run the tests.

Thanks!

I don't know if that's the cause, I'd call that the consequence. As I said, why ANYONE can play the game with the same (or worst) rig as me without touching the fan speeds?
Why this particular game and not GTA V, Witcher 3, etc..

/ edit: This is idle, like in desktop: http://imageshack.com/a/img537/1269/QlloZn.png
/ edit2: This is after playing GTA V for a while: http://imageshack.com/a/img673/5791/FIMfFu.png

I searched and it seems that there's some other people having temps issues with The Forest, also CPU and GPU extreme overheating.

Anyway, are my temps ok idle and GTA V? Thanks!

I noticed that coolers of the secondary one are not spinning 🙁

I'll try to unplug it and plug it again.

It just might not be in use and consequently not very hot so the fans haven't been activated to cool it down

But if I remember correctly two 970's can draw a lot of power and I've seen people recommend minimum PSU be at or above 750w so there's a chance it could be power related

I removed secondary one and all problems disappeared. I already ordered a 1000w PSU so I'll install the secondary GPU again when I have it.

Thanks!
