[SOLVED] PC will not boot on first power on

I've searched everywhere and couldn't find an answer for this problem:

I connected an old self build PC for a project and when I press the power button there is no display at all. The fans turn and you can hear HDDs power on but nothing shows up on the monitor. I hold the power button and force a shut down and try again and it boots fine. This happens every time I need to power it on. The only thing I notice different on the second power up is that the fans sound like they're spinning at a higher speed.

Any ideas?

It's old hardware, but I've never had this issue before.

ASRock N68C-S UCC
AMD phenom ii x4 840t
4gb Generic DDR2
Zotac GeForce GT 430
550w generic PSU
Intel 420 SSD and WD 250gb HDD

Solution
Seems to be a GPU or a power supply power issue. If the PSU is have a low power
Issue the GPU could act up. The fans kick in fast till the system stabilizes than the should slow down. If the system was in storage and not covered I suggest compressed air cleaning the case and the fan on the GPU.
