I’ve just bought a new m.2 sad for strictly storage not a boot drive, as soon as I plug it in my pc won’t be and is stuck on automatic repair loop, so I unplugged the ssd and it started booting right up like normal, even while the ssd was plugged in I made sure the boot drive was the same drive I was using before and it still went to automatic windows repair, why is this happening if I only wanna use it for storage for games etc? I’ve read multiple forums and don’t know what to do, my platform is x99 with i7 6800k my motherboard specifically is gigabyte

From the specs:
https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-X99-SLI-rev-10/sp#sp

"(M2_10G, SATA Express, and SATA3 4/5 connectors can only be used one at a time. The SATA3 4/5 connectors will become unavailable when an M.2 SSD is installed in the M2_10G connector.) "

Likely you just need to move your existing SATA drive connections to different motherboard ports.
Now the ssd isn’t showing up in bios or the storage settings in windows..
