Hey i just got new 8700k and Maximus X hero and im using strix 1080 ti
so here is my problem , after overclocking to 5ghz and using xmp on corsair 3466mhz ram my pc booted fine and passed my stress test but after turning it off and on pc display stays black and it does not boots up while pc runs with vga debug led on and code 72 , after force shut down by pressing power button and turning it on again it boots fine but same thing happens on next boot ,
i have to force shut down once everytime to boot my pc.

Solution
yeah I don't have any ideas on this one. Like I said, report it at the Asus forum. The leap in RAM speed has so little practical value anyhow in real world stuff you're not giving up a lot while you wait for better firmware.

Graphics firmware or motherboard , same gpu worked perfectly on my previous z270 system .

But you said you updated it?

Anyhow, that doesn't matter, what matters is that you have a verifiable problem that isn't going to fix itself. Definitely reach out to Asus via forum or email support and get them on this, they do have resources dedicated to these BIOS bugs (and I believe that's what it is).

But you said you updated it? - sorry i did not saw the bios version , i just downloaded the bios with asus motherboard softwares and flashed it
one more thing i have asus strix non oc and had flashed oc version bios to it but it was 100% stable and fine with my previous pc

i flashed stock bios still had the issue , did bios reset issue gone , oc'd cpu to 5ghz same voltage 1.3 no issue still then turned on xmp profile issue started again , i dont know why ram is causing gpu issue and only with xmp profile.

I'm not sure if you'll see this since it's been a few months that you posted your problem. I have a similar setup and my pc can oc to 5Ghz stable. I used XMP but when it asked to tune with XMP I chose no. I then manually set the CPU voltage and other settings. I found a youtube video that I followed and all went well with the same settings explained by der8auer https://youtu.be/CoUtA7DKXhU?t=305

check him out, he has great tutes on OC asus mobos
