Please help! Just bought new b650 am5 mobo,7700x, dddr5 ram and gen 4 m.2 SSD to go with existing 3090, PSU etc.
Pc posts as normal (apart from not recognising old sata m.2 ssd) with display port cable in mobo. As soon as I stick it in the GPU I get no display and have to force shutdown the pc as when swapping it back to mobo port nothing happens. Pc detects 3090 and have installed drivers in windows. If I try to start pc with display port in GPU it doesn't post... Or maybe it does but I can't see. Tried hdmi as well. Thanks for your help

Using the onboard video, try updating your motherboard BIOS (if not already the most current version).

If already the most current version, perform a hard reset if the BIOS and try again with the 3090. Steps:

Power system down
Remove all power connections (power cable, display, powered speakers, etc.
Remove the motherboard battery
Press the power button to discharge any residual power in your components (yep, I'm serious)
Wait a minute or two
Reverse the steps..battery..connections.
Power on.

I have tried this already. Wouldn't post at all to start with so had to do a usb flashback with the latest stable bios and then have cleared CMOS a few times since during trouble shooting process

If you physically remove the 3090 altogether, does the system seem to work properly otherwise?

What is the make/model of your motherboard?
Yes all seems to work other than old m.2 sata SSD can't be found although I've read online that I may need to swap to CMS first which I can't do without a gpu working. Mobo is b650 mag tomahawk WiFi from MSI.

At work now brainstorming so not able to change things but yes I did try without the SSD andI have tried different cables and monitors including hdmi with the same issue. Is it worth me getting different ram or CPU today or is that unlikely to be the cause?

And while you did get this figured out, which, congrats, one thing that was not mentioned here from what I saw is that sometimes you have to actually SET the input type on your monitor. So, some will automatically default to HDMI and you have to manually set the input to displayport or you simply won't get anything on screen at all. Not as common these days but still happens with some display models.
