[SOLVED] PC won't turn on when GPU is plugged to PSU

Hello everyone,

I need your expertise.

When I plug the PSU with GPU (GTX 1050) using a PCIe Cable: the PC won't turn on.
When I unplug the PCIe Cable, PC turns on displaying: "CONNECT THE PCIe POWER CABLES FOR THIS GRAPHIC CARD"

Running the same PC with another GPU (GT 730) which does not need a PCIe Cable, works perfectly.

Why is my GTX 1050 not working?

I tried different PCIe cables, no luck.

Below is the hardware:
  • Motherboard Gigabyte A520I w/ AMD Ryzen 5 1600 65W AM4 CPU
  • 16 GB DDR4 3200 Mhz
  • Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1050 2GB 128-Bit GDDR5

What am I missing? What am I doing wrong?

Below is are illustrations from my hardware:

Do you have another PSU to test? It's a bad PSU that one , it's listed under tier D in the curated tier list:

Like the others have said, if you are able to swap the PSU and GPU with another pc that will help you narrow down the issue. I had the same issue not too long ago with my 1080ti and it ended up the card died. When I would connect the PSU cables to it, the PC would not power up. With the cables not connected it would boot up fine. I ended up narrowing it down by using an old 750 ti and it booted up normally.

It could also be the PCIe slot. Do you have another one? I saw a post recently where the OP discovered his PCIe slot went bad because the one below it ran his GPU just fine.
