PCI OR PCI Express to SATA Card Adapter

Since I don't have enough sata ports on my motherboard I'm gonna buy Card Adapter to convert my PCI OR PCI Express to SATA. Which one is better ? What's the difference in the real world ? Are those cards okay to use ? Will those cards damage my hard drives ?

the difference ins bandwidth and price. generally the pci cards are a cheap solution and slower than pcie cards.
the following picture shows the difference in bandwidth between several buses
look at pci2.1 and all of the pcie slots
the maximum read/write of a typical 7200 rpm hard drive is like ~100mb I think
