Did anyone got any info on DIY fan replacement on the PCIE 4 mothers? I mean the fan that cools those southbridge/PCIE chips.

I'm eyeing a new mother for a new build, and I want PCIE 4, but I'm worried about it having factory fans.

My PCs get regularly covered in dust, and fans tend to break, so I expect a mother fan to need replacement at some time.

I found no information on how factible is to replace the fan on those PCIE 4 mothers. I do not want to have to discard an expensive mother because I cannot replace the fan.

I had a Sabertooth Z77 which had two built in fans for the motherboard VRMs. They are 40mm and 32mm. After 7 years they are still running strong.

Finding such parts on Amazon however is a trivial task. They usually use a 3 pin header.

But did you actually tried to replace the fans?

Or at least checked if the screw holes match?

The images you posted look like those fans frames are too thick.
Also there is the issue of the power connection to the mother. It is removable or is soldered?, like the CPU/case fans? Does it has a wire for speed control ?

EDIT: Oh, I saw images of the mother you speak of. It does not seems to be a similar case. Your mother seems to use standard fans, but the new mothers for PCIE 4 (x570) appear to have much slim mounts, with ad hock fans.
