Question PCIe 8 pin power for Asus ROG Maximus Z790 Dark Hero

What you have circled is just a PCIe 8 (6+2) pin connector (just like used on a GPU) and your PSU has plenty of cables and outputs for that. If you mean the connector marked 9 (the actual (USB Type C connector), your case should have that if it is a newer case.

If you want to see for yourself, look at THIS and the picture below for the pinout voltages/ground and compare to your PSU pinouts and also the pinout voltages on page 1-10 of your manual -- all identical. 3 +12V DC and 5 GND pins/slots.

I was wondering if anyone knows where I can obtain a power cord for this header on the Asus ROG Maximus Z790 Dark Hero mother board?

I have a Corsair HX1500i power supply and none of the 8 pin cables supplied are compatible.
I do not think it is required but it would be nice to have fast charging for the front panel USB C port.

Glad to find this post.... NOTHING anywhere about it....even in the manual. . I didn't notice this 8-pin thing and my PC has been mysteriously shutting down during gameplay. Hoping this is the issue.
Does this just require 8-pin pwr cable plugged into it? The manual only describes it as "8-pin pwr" and in another line place states that it's for extra power needed by GPU. I started thinking that it was one of those "power taps" on the MB for connecting to peripheral. Since this is the first I've ever seen of this thing... wouldn't it have been nice for them to mention a little somethin about it in the +&$%#$* manual !!!?!?!?!?!?🫤😕
