Hello all,

So i got the following build just recently:

MSI a75a-G35
APU a8-3850
Cooler master hyper evo
DDR3 1600 4GB

the rest is pretty much usual

so i was building everything like usual, and this was my first build, i always wanted to build computer, but never had the funds, anyway i placed too much thermal compound, and didn't really thought about until i saw this:

https://register.msi.com/uploads/questions/question_116824_20120903054020.jpg

my fintek chip was running 72C (Speccy and HWinfo are the best, as well as HWMonitor), although the

CPU was ~35 C
Mosfet ~40C
System ~30C

on day to day load, at full load just add 5C to each.

anyway i remembered that i was over generous with the thermal component, upon installing the Cooler master hyper 212 evo, so i decided to clean things up, it took me 2-3 hours, it was messy, the thermal compound actually was a bit one sides of the CPU itself, after alot of detailed cleaning , then putting an pea sized thermal compound, this fintek became 17C, which is pretty good.

i am writing this article, so i can help out others, if they experienced the same problem, cause my motherboard is brand new and according to this PDF, my fintek chip can only accept :

+70 C, so i was this close of burning my new motherboard, and never building an computer again, so hope this helps anyone.

Always put peasize

My first one was a daunting tasks. you should have read up on how to build a computer before you just dove in.

I thought the cooler came with it's own thermal paste already applied ?

the reason I said it looks like you just dove in........... if you read up on the processor you would have learned the APU's run much better with faster ram and they are more or less made to be optimized with 1866 memory.

at least you didn't say you used toothpaste for thermal compound. guess that's a plus.

Yeah, i always worried that the hyper 212 would fall of or something, and kept checking the system temps, the cooler master 212 evo didn't have any thermal already applied, however they supplied compound in a tube.

what would happen is, i would build up the computer, then check videos and guides, remove the build, and build it over again, i guess i rebuilded 3 times, with not alot of change in between, just to double check everything.

and i choose 1600 for price/performance and it was available where i live for cheap.

If i understand you correctly, Your temperature of the Fintek chip was 72C, so you thought that reapplying the thermal paste on the CPU would drop the temperature of the Fintek chip(T1 in HWinfo)
And according to you it worked, the fintek chip temperature is 17C.

But how can this be? The fintek chip on your board is located next to a pci-slot. How can that reapplying the thermal paste on the CPU would drop the temperature on another location on the motherboard? And to 17C? Than your room temperature must be lower than that! if not than it has to be wrong.

I think that you had a graphics-card which blows hot air to the fintek chip, since the temp-sensor(t1 in hwinfo) is located closely to the fintek chip.
But on the other hand, i don´t see a graphicscard in you written build.

I hope you are willing to explain this since i have a similar problem. Look at my topic: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/348440-10-what-high-temperatures#t2652649

Hey, sorry for the delay in replying i was abit busy, yh your absolutely right, the i figured the issue, it was not related to the CPU thermal method, i tracked down the issue, and it appears that if you booted up the computer, the temps will be low like 17C however press standby then go back it will be like 60C ???

currently its 61C at the time of writing, i stopped caring cause i checked MSI and the website, and found out the Fintek is in charge of IO, and i located in the motherboard, it big black square that looks like this :

http://www.madboxpc.com/reviews/MSI/msi_p965/fotos_neo2/fintek.jpg

and i touched it (not a good idea, but i was nervous), when the temps said its 60~70C and that thing was cool, like ~20c, the only thing that was hot was the heatsinked A75 chipset, and i dont blame it, cause its overbeefed with 6 sataports at 6GB and this A75 chipset, consumes 7.8watts, which is alow compared to other chipsets that consume 4-5 watts, so those temps i reckon was report thing the a75 chipset, cause when i touched the heatsink it was hot!, however i was informed that the chipset unlike the CPU can work fine under 100C so no problem.

My findings.
