Pentium 200mmx chip

Please help

I have got a P166 machine and have been given aP200mmx chip and have installed it but my computer is saying it is a P133mmx what do I need to do

Yes, but make sure it is set for an MMX. Becasue I have never heard of a 133MMX desktop, they started at 166MHz as far as I know. (there was a 133MMX Mobile Pentium chip for laptops however).
You need it set for the MMX chip to allow lower core voltages or it will overheat.

The 166 probably was a Cyrix chip. They used to catually run at 133MHz. The number would correspond to the equivalent Intel CPU speed.

Timbutcher:
The required settings should be printed on the CPU.
Chnage the Jumpers on the motherboard to match those settings.
