Performance Improvement P4PE to P4C800-E Deluxe?

I posted this question on the "other look alike" ASUS Mainboard newsgroup
but did not see any recent activity on anything. So let me ask the same
question again.

Before I go spend $450 on a new MB, Memory and CPU can someone give me a
feel for the performance improvement I'll get (%) going from a 2.53 GHz
Northwood CPU on the P4PE MB to the to a 3.0 GHz Prescott CPU on the
P4C800-E Deluxe MB and upgrading from 333 DDR (1-512 MB) memory on the P4PE
to 400 DDR memory (2-512 MB) on the P4C800-E. Thanks. I just need some
help rationalizing this upgrade. I normally wait until the cpu speed is
doubled before I upgrade but I think those days are gone for awhile.

My estimate of the speed increase is 17% for the CPU, 20% for the RAM, 5%
for the motherboard's chipset. Add it up and you get around 45% total speed
increase.

The improvement will be noticeable in areas where memory affects
the result.Opening word or web pages, moving folders, etc . The
limit is the disk drive performance --in most machines this is not
a speed much improved by increase in cpu since it operates near
its limit in any case. There will be a slight hdd speed increase
tho and combined with the increase in memory performance boot
times and graphic displays ( video game framerates) will show the
best improvement.

Have you tried simply overclocking your current system?

IMHO, you will not see any significant improvement in performance between
those two systems (at least not $450 worth.) If you're going with a new
system, why not look toward the future with DDR2/PCI Express based systems?
At least then you're getting the latest technology.
