Question Phanteks Neon RGB Strips only lighting up half way

I got two of the Phanteks Neon RGB strips, the 1m and the 550mm.

I connected them to the rgb controller on my case, and both of them had the same problem with the strip only lighting up halfway.

So I returned and exchanged them, and the new ones are having the same problem. So it must be something I'm doing wrong.

One interesting note, the timing of the rgb pattern seems to be as if it doesn't even see the lights on the dark side of the led strip. Like the controller doesn't even know they're there.

This is a cheap, generic 3-pin 5v controller. Anyone know if I'm doing something wrong here? Is it possible that my controller only sees half the lights on the strips?

Have you tried plugging the strip directly into the motherboard? What controller specifically are you using?

My motherboard doesn't have rgb, I'm using this cheapo controller that came with my case fans.

It's possible that the number of lighting nodes being seen on the strip is the same amount of nodes that are on each case fan, and that the controller is only designed to see that same amount
