Phenom X4 Worth it for Gaming?

Is it worth upgrading to the Phenom X4 9750+ for $25-$30 for gaming? I'm assuming it would be very similar in performance to a Q6600. My current processor is the Athlon 64 X2 4200+.

The Phenom x4 9750+ is on a par with the Q6600.

Both are a distict improvement over the CPU you have now. But since you would have to change the AMD m/b to use the Intel Q6600, it would be better to select the Phenom x4, if your board accepts it. Which m/b do you have?

Then you are aware that the 9750 does not show up on the CPU support page. However, the 9850 does, so I would assume that is simply an oversight since the 9850 was introduced later than the 9750 and is an AM2+ socket. I would suspect the CPU will be recognized. But no guarantees if it isn't listed.
