I have waited nine months for my shipment, so who cares about another
one when something really serious comes up...

I wonder what the value of the item being awaited is, although that
should not make a difference in terms of the rather insensitive post.
So, correct me if I am off base here, but if the above needed to be
said at all right now (which seems questionable in view of it already
having been 9 months according to the post) wouldn't it have been more
appropriate as a private "Reply To Author?"

That's definately not like Darin, I think the poster must be mistaken.
It's a shame he decided to make a post so blatantly offensive to someone
who is going through what Darin is going through right now.

From the e-mail in the original post, looks like the poster is from Germany?
(.de) It's not unheard of for an international shipment to be hung up in
customs or lost completely. Or even stolen- from the mail or off a
customer's front porch.

We ship a *lot* overseas (at least 1 or 2 orders a day) and even at that
it's pretty rare to have one go missing, but I have seen "lost" maybe half a
dozen intermational shipments in the last 2 years or so that have gone out
from our shop. When one gets hung up in customs, it's typically a 2 to 10
week delay.

The farther the package has to go, the more susceptible it is to problems
with handling, damage, and loss. These are just the inherent risks of
shipping anywhere- domestic or overseas. We notify ALL of our intermational
customers about possible customs delays and shipping risks before and after
ordering, and offer a couple of different shipping methods- especially on
higher-cost orders- for tracking, no tracking, etc.

So you can't always blame it on the shipper. May have just been lost or
stolen- who knows?
