Question Phone Battery Issue

I have an iPhone 7 Plus whose battery got replaced around 6 months ago. Now, 6 months later the new battery itself started failing. I took my phone to the same technician that replaced the battery and he tested the Ampere readings on a device he plugged my phone into.

The readings fluctuated between 1.0 to 1.2 Amps. He unplugged the phone, waited for a while and then plugged it back in. This time the reading was stable at 0.6 Amps.

I don't trust local repair shops all that much especially with motherboard/IC level repairs but the technician says this is why the batteries in my phone are failing. He said that there is a short somewhere on my phone's motherboard which is causing the fluctuations and therefore the batteries are failing.

I just need to confirm if this really is what's wrong with my phone.
