Your better off going through an online shop because they are cheaper and have much more of a selection than any store you will probably find. Some of those parts can be found in a CompUSA or possibly a BestBuy but I can't guarentee you that. I am not really sure of any retailers that sell processors. The only drawbacks of going through online is that you will have to wait a couple days for shipping and won't get the benefits of physically seeing the product or discussing it with an associate (thats why we're here, well maybe not me but others 😀)

Anyways, go through online shop like newegg because they will be much cheaper in the long run.

I noticed that you didn't have a Power supply for this computer. For what your working with, I'd reccomend at least a 350W PSU if you don't already have one.

Good luck with your comp!

I pretend to know what I'm talking about.

You can always buy from your local indepenent computer maker, they might have good prices. And you don't have to wait or pay for shipping. Of course it depends on the shop.

Local shops you usually have higher prices and limited selections...and always added TAX.

And the sign says "You got to have a membership card to get inside" Huh
So I got me a pen and paper And I made up my own little sign

I'm not disagreeing but it depends on the SHOP.

I have a few computer makers in Denver that make many computers so their prices aren't bad, better then CompUSA. Sometimes they have great prices on parts when they order the parts and then the company cancels part of the order.

I do agree online is cheaper, no tax, but shipping might be higher then the TAX. Of course states like Oregon don't have sales tax. Interms of ease of use, time and not having to drive somewhere, online is better.

I like to support local stores.

Shipping isn't cheap to Alaska. hehe

I think Montana doesnt have sales tax.

I like online shopping but if you want or need something NOW
the local shop is a good choice.

The only pain I find is if the online store uses UPS,UPS won't leave the package without a signature. Fed EX or USPS will leave the package on my porch.

I'm using online shops less and less. I'm fortunate to have a Microcenter a few miles from my house and a smaller shop (Computer Builder's Warehouse). Out of the last 4 computers I've put together for myself and family, I think I purchased 1 cpu and a couple sticks of memory online and my video card. Everything else was bought locally.

Price differences are not as much as they once were, at least in the US. And I've found that more and more desirable hardware you can get just as cheap or cheaper than online. My 4400+ I picked up from Computer Builder's Warehouse for $690 out the door, retail box. At the time no one online had the OEM instock and newegg wanted $730 for their retail box. You also get the benefit (well not always) of doing business with someone in your community. You do enough with them and they'll start giving you deals.
