Theorectical - if all tge components operated at their optimal specs then 90hz would be working without a hitch. From what i have researched it seems to be likely the Bridge chip which claims 90hz as its peak value is not stable. However even at 80hz stable imho should be fine especially with the much higher fidelity. They are now checking out some new hardware; which suggests there may be a new bridge chip being developed & released as the one they built their headset was from my research the best option at the time.

Now go over to Gigabyte's website & you will find They advertise Theorectical performance on gpus *if* all electrical componets operate at best specs. Which rarely happens. This is also why Overclocking cpus & such varies even with identicle setups.
