Hello.

My new PC shuts down at random times. I suspect it's the PSU so I want to buy a new one but is there a way to make sure it is the PSU fault so I dont make a useless investement.

The problem is this: PC shuts down randomly, and sometimes it restarts but sometimes it doesn't even turn on for a few minutes.
The shutdowns are completely random, sometimes even on idle. I stressed the PC under full load and it didn't shut down.

My build:
  • Ryzen 5 3600,
  • MSI B450 Tomahawk mobo,
  • 16gb RAM,
  • Gigabyte GTX1660,
  • FHD Monitor.
  • Coolermaster MWE Gold 550 PSU.
Log of last unexpected shutdown:

I was having similar issues with my ryzen 5 3600 build. Always restarting during high load games such as CoD Warzone and Destiny 2 strikes. I was using a b450 bazooka v2, and a rx 580, otherwise specs are the same, my cooler is a CM 650 MWE.

Changed the mobo to a tomahawk max, replaced stock cooler with dark rock pro 4.... no more issues. Try looking at your CPU temps, i think that was my problem.

I have similar issue with Ryzen 5 3400G and no GPU, changed the PSU but it did not solve the problem. Temperature were no issue since the CPU ran cool all the time even under game, never exceed 70C, mostly below 60C. I suspected it is motherboard problem, and if your issue is similar ( the shutdown, but fan and lighting is still running, but monitor displays nothing) probably it's the same.
