This is a PC basically for music production - no games! I'm planning on spending roughly £500 on the basic setup below, then extra on a LG 22" monitor and decent sound card etc. I'm not overclocking.

Core 2 Duo E6750

Gigabyte P35 - DS3R

2GB RAM - not sure on this

Leadtek GeForce 8400 GS 256MB - good enough for 1680x1050 monitors and Vista premium?

DVD writer

Memory card reader

Thermaltake case - is this the right size for my motherboard?

Antec Basic 350W PSU - good enough for my needs?

MS keyboard/mouse

Any advice on how to improve this would be great. Thanks in advance!

Nice Build.
Could help you out with better parts, I don't know many places that would ship in the U.K

From you website:

Ram:Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2-6400C5 TwinX (2x1GB)

The GPU is enough as you are not playing any games

And yes the Mobo fits that case. ATX case,ATX mobo.....get the picture?
Not sure about that PSU but it should fit your need and if you spit out the extra dough get yourself the Corsair 450W.

That is a good PSU with high efficiency and quiet (you probably don't care since you already hearing music)
and also has a BIG room for upgrading and LOTS of cables so you will never run out.

Hope this helps out, good luck with your build.

Looks good although I'd go with an Antec with 550w

While there is nothing wrong with that mobo, if you need firewire for any equipment this one would be better because it has onboard firewire

Just got a HT Omega Claro sound card primarily to list to music and it's terrific, noticeably better than the onboard sound card which is a Realtek on an ASUS mobo if your looking for a naudio card. It's based on the C-Media CMI8788 chipset, which is designed for music and video. Bgears makes a less expensive version using the same chipset
