Planning for the future-best upgrades for gaming on 52"HDTV

Hello everyone--

I'm trying to plan ahead and think about what the most effecient hardware goals should be to meet my gaming performance goals... I am using a Samsung 52", LN52A650, as my display for my gaming rig. Basically I would just like to play all games at 1920 x 1080, with all quality settings maxed out, without ever dropping below 30fps. Here is my current configuration:

MB: GA-M61DME-S2 (rev. 2.x)
CPU: AMD Phenom X4 9600 2.3ghz
GPU: EVGA Geforce 9800GTX+

I like my GPU, so I was thinking that my best bet would be to get an NVIDIA 780a motherboard, so that I could add an additional 9800GTX+ for SLI, and possibly even another for 3-way SLI. However, I've never tried SLI before, and was thinking that it might be more cost-efficient to aim for a nice card like a Radeon HD 4850 X2 2 GB, and just improve my processor.

What are your thoughts?

you're going to need a new build for what you're looking for.

to keep it on the cheap,

AMD 720 x3 BE (don't worry, just because it only has three cores doesn't mean it won't perform aswell as your 9600, even in quad-threaded tasks, it will also perform a lot better in games too.)
Biostar/DFI/Gigabyte/ASUS 790GX motherboard
ATi 4890 1GB. (outperforms two of those 9800's or even a single '285 when oc'd.)

however you might need a new PSU for that, a good 550w preferably, or a good 750w if you plan to CF later.

if you are planning to play on a 52" tv you may want to get 2x 295gtx , trust me on this as if you planning to play games at that resoultion you might wanna get some hench graphics card, also if your planning to play crysis and wanna be future proof then buy the 2 295gtx in sli

^ you only need dual 295's if you have a 30" monitor, one 295 is sufficient for a 1920x1080 screen.

NO WAY

The size of the screen doesnt matter . The resolution does .
Basically this build is the same as if the op was building for a 24 inch monitor .

He shold read the "best graphics card for the money " article on the homepage and use that as a guide .
