Intel is following the Centrino model for the desktop... packaging a processor and chipset as a platform under a brand name, the first one to be named in Q3.
While Centrino worked great from a marketing standpoint for Intel, I didn't see that it gave the consumer much for the price premium. As long as you got the Pentium M you were doing pretty good so why buy the package.
